Hello again everyone. It's Tom aka the Stickboy behind Stickboy Coffee. In my fourth novel, The Current Takes All, I move away from comedy and into the shadows, exploring crime, morality, and the quiet violence that often lurks beneath everyday American life.
Set along the St. Lawrence River in Upstate New York, the novel follows ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances, where choices linger, consequences compound, and justice is rarely as simple as it seems.
Inspired by the rugged beauty of the Thousand Islands region and the communities that call it home, I explore themes of isolation, loyalty, addiction, redemption, and the fragile line between survival and wrongdoing. Rather than relying on spectacle, I let the tension emerge through the characters themselves, their decisions, their struggles, and the secrets they carry.
At its heart, The Current Takes All is a story about what happens when desperation collides with opportunity, and how a single choice can change the course of a life forever.
