My brain can’t even handle a caption. Yaaaalllllll! How are we here again? I feel like this qualifies for a tag even though we paid money for him and he came from a good home. What was I thinking? The other draft owners I’ve talked to haven’t been hopeful but I feel like I’m eternally optimistic to a fault.

Horse friends if you have ever successfully treated canker, please let me know what you did or what doctor you used. (Frequent trims, daily cleaning and packing with artimud is not helping.)

I don’t have any warm and fuzzies about this but we will continue doing our best to raise quality local food for your families and for all of you. We wish we could do more.

President Donald Trump says the United States will allow up to 300,000 metric tons of ground beef to be imported without an out-of-quota tariff for the next 90 days.

Trump announced the move Friday on Truth Social, saying the deal is intended to substantially lower ground beef prices for working American families while giving the U.S. cattle herd time to rebuild.

The post read: "Today, I concluded a deal to substantially lower the price of ground beef for working American families. As everyone knows, under President Biden, beef prices soared at their fastest rate and the American beef herd fell to its smallest size in modern history. As we work to rebuild this herd and help our ranchers, for the next 90 days, the United States will allow up to 300,000 metric tons of product for ground beef to be imported with no out of quota tariff. We have a commitment that this beef will be sold at 25 percent below current market prices. This deal will reduce prices for Americans while giving space for our Great American Beef Herd to grow again. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

It took a few seasons but I realize not all animals are created equal. I want an animal that’s weaned. Holds condition on forage. Gentle temperament. Trained to an electric fence. Heat tolerant.
It may sound like a long list, but I can feel good about passing on something that’s sub par and supporting the farmer that thinks the same way we do. Grass fed beef starts from the very beginning. Taking an animal raised on grain and asking it to work in a forage system isn’t a guarantee.
