Hello Farm Friends! ❤ Today is Soulful Sunday AND Flag Day! ❤
🇺🇸 According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, Flag Day marks the anniversary of June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress officially adopted the Stars and Stripes as the flag of the United States. While it is not a federal holiday, it is a day when Americans are encouraged to fly the flag at homes, businesses, farms, and public buildings.
The flag itself carries meaning in every stitch. The 50 stars represent the 50 states, while the 13 stripes honor the original 13 colonies. Its colors hold meaning, too: red for valor and hardiness, white for purity and innocence, and blue for vigilance, perseverance, and justice.
To us, the flag is more than fabric and color. It represents the people who built, served, worked, sacrificed, farmed, raised families, and kept going through every season of this country’s story.
Here on the farm, where generations have cared for the same land, Flag Day feels like a good time to pause and remember that freedom, community, and responsibility are things we continue to tend, much like the fields, animals, and neighbors around us.
And because it’s Soulful Sunday, we’re also thinking about the deeper meaning behind the symbols we hold dear. A flag, a farm, a family, a community: each one carries stories, roots, and reminders of what we choose to care for.
Happy Flag Day, Farm Friends. ❤️🤍💙
