Wico Street Beer Co. started as a dream between two cousins with a lot of hope, hard work, and grit. We set out to build a place rooted in community, good beer, and genuine connection and for a while, we really did that. As many of you know, the craft beer industry is facing immense challenges. Rising costs, changing consumer habits, and an increasingly difficult sales landscape have made it incredibly hard for small, independent breweries to survive even when they’re doing everything they can. As much as we wanted a different ending, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our taproom at the end of this month. That said, what we’re walking away with is far more than we ever expected.
This brewery would not exist without the friends and family who showed up with tools, free labor, late nights, early mornings, encouragement, patience, and belief long before there was ever beer in the tanks. You helped us build this place with your hands and your hearts, and we will never forget that. We met so many amazing people along the way. Folks who started as customers and became regulars. Regulars who became friends. And friends who we now consider family. That part will never go away.
To our friends in the South Baltimore Brewery District thank you for the collaboration, encouragement, and camaraderie. This scene is special because of the people in it, and we’re proud to have been part of it.
And to our staff, there truly aren’t any words. You showed up every day, supported us, believed in what we were building, and repped the Wico name with pride. This place was what it was because of you.
If there’s one thing we hope people take from this, it’s how important it is to support small, local businesses. Not just breweries, all of them. They are labors of love built by real people, with real risk, sacrifice, and a whole lot of heart.
From the bottom of ours, thank you for being part of this chapter with us. We’ll be open through the end of the month, and we’d truly love to raise a glass with you one more time. As we head toward the finish line, we’ll be shifting to weekend hours only. Join us Fridays through Sundays until we run dry.
With love,
Mike & Jordan

If you’ve ever said “we need to hang out soon”… this is that moment.

In November 2022, Wico Street Beer Co. opened its doors in Pigtown with a simple idea: build something of our own, and make it feel like home.

Mike was working in wealth management, ready for a life that felt less like spreadsheets and a little more like living. Jordan had spent 15 years brewing at local spots - only to watch some disappear during COVID. they’re cousins, and at the right moment, everything lined up just enough to take a chance on something bigger than both of them.

So we did.

We built this space ourselves - literally. The bar, the cooler, the tables, the patio, all of it came together with our own hands, alongside family and friends who believed in us before we even opened. What we couldn’t build with tools, we built with people.

That’s what Wico has always been about.

A place that feels like the early 2000s again. Where you can show up for a beer and end up in a conversation, a game, a laugh you didn’t expect. Where the same faces keep coming back - and new ones somehow fit right in.

But the truth is… it’s getting harder.

The craft beer industry is changing fast. People are drinking differently. Some aren’t drinking at all. Since COVID, habits have shifted in ways that small breweries like ours feel every single day. Costs keep rising - ingredients, rent, utilities - and sales across the board are down, not just for us, but a lot of people we know and respect in this industry.

We’ve done everything we can to adapt.

But right now, we’re struggling.

We’re not posting this for sympathy. And we’re not giving up.

We’re posting this because if this place has ever meant something to you - even just a good night, random weekend visit, a memory you didn’t plan on making - we need you now.

Come in. Bring a friend. Tell someone about us. Share this.

Next Saturday, we’ll be hosting a karaoke fundraiser (details coming soon). It’s going to be loud, a little chaotic, and exactly the kind of night that reminds us why we started this in the first place.

We’re still here. We’re still fighting for this.
And with some community help, we’re hoping we can keep open a little longer.

WHERE’S WALLY? 🍺👀

Our newest beer has officially landed: Where’s Wally — a crisp West Coast Pilsner brewed with Bear Branch Malt and dry-hopped with Citra + Seez hops.

Translation: bright citrus, clean finish, dangerously crushable.

But we couldn’t stop at just dropping a new beer… so we turned it into a game.
