Wico Street Beer Co. started as a dream between two cousins with a lot of hope, hard work, and grit. We set out to build a place rooted in community, good beer, and genuine connection and for a while, we really did that. As many of you know, the craft beer industry is facing immense challenges. Rising costs, changing consumer habits, and an increasingly difficult sales landscape have made it incredibly hard for small, independent breweries to survive even when they’re doing everything they can. As much as we wanted a different ending, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our taproom at the end of this month. That said, what we’re walking away with is far more than we ever expected.
This brewery would not exist without the friends and family who showed up with tools, free labor, late nights, early mornings, encouragement, patience, and belief long before there was ever beer in the tanks. You helped us build this place with your hands and your hearts, and we will never forget that. We met so many amazing people along the way. Folks who started as customers and became regulars. Regulars who became friends. And friends who we now consider family. That part will never go away.
To our friends in the South Baltimore Brewery District thank you for the collaboration, encouragement, and camaraderie. This scene is special because of the people in it, and we’re proud to have been part of it.
And to our staff, there truly aren’t any words. You showed up every day, supported us, believed in what we were building, and repped the Wico name with pride. This place was what it was because of you.
If there’s one thing we hope people take from this, it’s how important it is to support small, local businesses. Not just breweries, all of them. They are labors of love built by real people, with real risk, sacrifice, and a whole lot of heart.
From the bottom of ours, thank you for being part of this chapter with us. We’ll be open through the end of the month, and we’d truly love to raise a glass with you one more time. As we head toward the finish line, we’ll be shifting to weekend hours only. Join us Fridays through Sundays until we run dry.
With love,
Mike & Jordan
