Swipe to see today’s tasting (4-7pm)! Whites of the Rhône—a hidden gem? 💎 The Southern Rhône is part of the Mediterranean corner of the world, characterized by loooong, hot summers. This climate delivers greater ripeness and often higher alcohol, which is why, traditionally, the wines have been overwhelmingly red.
Modern know-how makes it much easier to produce quality white wines in hot regions—which is excellent news. The whites of the Rhône are hidden gems; they suit summery Mediterranean cuisine and relaxed seaside drinking perfectly with their rich aromatics and velvety texture.
Swing by Friday from 4–7pm and see why these whites have captured our attention over and over again since our 2019 trip!
🍐 Alain Jaume Domaine Grand Veneur ‘Les Champauvins’ Blanc 2024
🍇 100% Viognier from Côtes du Rhône AOC, Rhône Valley, France
Expect an intense-yet-delicate nose of white flowers, pear, and white peach. Fresh, mineral-driven, and creamy on the palate with a lengthy finish. There’s a reason we keep coming back to this wine, year after year (literally…Jake and I had it at the vineyard in 2019, served it at our wedding in 2023, and continue to adore and recommend it in 2026).
🍑 Château de Ségriès Lirac Blanc AOC 2025
🍇 50% Ugni Blanc, 30% Clairette, 20% Roussanne from Lirac AOC, Rhône Valley, France
Chateau de Ségriès has preserved the old grape varieties of the appellation, such as Ugni Blanc, and combines them with Clairette and Roussanne, resulting in an atypical wine aged lightly in oak barrels, aromatic and representative of the estate. With aromas of white peach and honey, a beautiful mineral freshness on the palate, and licorice notes on the finish, this is a round, well-balanced, and persistent wine.
