Most people experience wine in a glass. They don’t always see what happens in the field first.
Wine is farming.
Wine is Agriculture.
And here in Maryland, it’s local, it’s seasonal, and it’s vulnerable.
Last night, temperatures dropped to 20 degrees 😢 a frost settled in. By morning, what we’re looking at is damage that has impacted our 2026 vintage.
There’s no way to soften this. This is the side of wine most people never see. Not the glass. Not the label. But the risk. And for small, boutique wineries like ours, there’s no reserve to fall back on. This is the INVENTORY. WORK.
We’ve always known what it means to be the underdog in this industry. To build in spaces where we weren’t always expected to be.
To create, to lead, to endure—often without the same safety nets.
We also know we’re not alone in this moment.
To our fellow Maryland wineries and growers—our hearts are with you. So when we talk about drinking local, supporting Maryland wine, joining the club—this is WHY it matters. Because behind every bottle is a SEASON that had to SURVIVE! 🍇 Noir Sunshine Winery Maryland Wine
