So glad that you are both enjoying the results of your lessons! This week we will tackle a healthy curried chicken served with pear chutney.

Chef Alex taught me to make this in our private cooking lessons. It is delicious, has not one grain of salt in it (we're working on low-salt, low-cholesterol, low-cal cooking), very tasty and savory, and best of all---my husband loved it! It is pork and fig skewers in a honey-mustard-thyme marinade, with honey-roasted sweet potato cubes and a kale/fennel/onion/mushroom combo. And it was super-fast to make!

Alright, this is a good one. What recipe makes you most nervous, and what would it take for you to try to tackle it?

The brother-in-law's birthday seemed like a good occasion for massive steaks. Kale, mushrooms, zucchini and roasted sweet potatoes balanced out the protein overload here... and added some color to the plate!

They have made a holiday for everything! Today is apparently Food Day; celebrating healthy, affordable, sustainable food. Wish I had known about it before today maybe we could have organized something locally! I have a pot of chicken stock simmering away, I suppose that will have to count as my celebration for the day. What will YOU do today to celebrate?

As a self-declared food ju**ie I find myself reading far more cookbooks cover-to-cover than actual literary books. Two of my favorites made GrubStreet's list of the 25 best food memoirs of all time: "The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen" by Jacques Pépin my favorite chef and Frenchman, and "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain.

No two books could tell such different stories about life in the kitchen while ringing the same bell. How many have you read? Any favorites on here?

Grub Street ranks the memoirs that every food lover needs to read right this very second.
