🔵 Reverse Osmosis (RO)
How it works:
RO uses a semi-permeable membrane to force water through, removing dissolved salts, heavy metals, fluoride, nitrates, and many contaminants down to microscopic levels.
It usually has multiple filter stages (sediment, carbon, RO membrane, and sometimes UV).
Pros:
✅ Extremely thorough — removes up to 95–99% of contaminants.
✅ Great for areas with high TDS (total dissolved solids).
Cons:
❌ Wastes water — for every gallon purified, 2–4 gallons may go to waste.
❌ Strips out beneficial minerals — water can taste “flat.”
❌ Needs a storage tank and regular membrane replacement.
🟢 Pureway Filtration System
How it works:
Pureway typically uses a multi-stage carbon-based filtration with advanced media to target chlorine, PFAS, VOCs, pesticides, sediment, and bad tastes/odors — but keeps healthy minerals.
It’s designed for whole-home or point-of-use systems with high flow rates and no wastewater.
Pros:
✅ No wasted water — all filtered water is usable.
✅ Keeps healthy minerals in your water.
✅ Easier to install and maintain than RO.
✅ Often more affordable long-term.
Cons:
❌ Doesn’t remove dissolved salts/minerals — so if you have very hard water or high TDS, you may still need a softener or RO for that.
❌ Not designed for seawater or extremely contaminated sources like brackish water.
✔️ Which is better for you?
If you want the purest water possible, especially for drinking/cooking only, RO is powerful but can be wasteful.
If you want clean, safe, great-tasting water throughout your whole home, with zero waste, and to keep healthy minerals, Pureway is more practical.
