** CASTING CALL**

Our friends at NMAI asked us to share the following with our community. Please follow up DIRECTLY with Sam Game (below) if you are interested!

Discovery Theater seeks performing artists for its upcoming production with the working title Hear Me Say My Name created in collaboration with interdisciplinary, two-spirit artist/educator Ty Defoe (Giizhiig, Ojibwe, and Onieda Nations) to be performed at the National Museum of the American Indian. The interactive play, created for ages 10+, will be presented free to schools, families and visitors at the museum on selected days in 2019 and 2020. The piece looks to address issues of stereotyping and identity, as well as reframe and further the conversation about what it means to be a young Native/Indigenous person in the world today.

We are casting performers and understudies who will portray Native American, First Nations and indigenous persons, along with other characters. The play will be performed at the Smithsonian’s Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC. Rehearses during weekday daytimes in October and performs select weekdays and weekends in November and December, rehearsal and performance schedule available upon request. All rehearsals and performances will be paid. If interested in auditioning, please contact Sam Game at [email protected] or (202) 633-8591, to schedule an audition.

Anyone interested in working on the project in the areas of Stage Management, House Management, or as a Lights/Sound/Projections Technician, please contact Sam for more information.
