Everyone knows the old riddle: What goes up, but never comes down?
A: Your age.
There's a lot of talk everywhere about "anti-aging" - whether it's a pill, a powder, a potion, or a practice.
But the truth is, aging is a fact of life. It's going to happen no matter what you swallow or rub on your skin.
Personally, I think the better term is "healthy aging", in that instead of focusing on adding more years to your life, you prioritize adding more life to your years. Because, at the end of the day, what's the point of living longer if those years are packed with nonstop pain and misery?
As a functional health practitioner, I work with a broad spectrum of people of all ages - from 2 to 92, with virtually every kind of chronic dis-ease issue you could imagine. And over the course of eleven years, I've noticed a commonality involving many of the same fundamental dysfunctions when tracing back through a person's health history to uncover their root cause(s)...
..poor mitochondrial health/low energy, detoxification issues, digestive issues, poor immune function, blood sugar dysregulation, poor muscle tone, poor gut health, lack of exercise, cognitive issues, inflammation, pain, and hormonal imbalances...to name a few.
These are all things that, had there been a few more "simple" strategies in place early on to address them, perhaps things wouldn't have gotten so bad down the road.
And on the flip side, once things HAVE gotten so bad, it becomes imperative to begin implementing a wide variety of strategies and therapies in order to turn things around. The key, however, is being able to work those things in a little at a time, rather than trying to do ALL of the things all at once...because few things will stop a person's progress - or even willingness to engage - than...
• ignoring the fundamentals
• having to take too many supplements at one time
• making too many lifestyle changes all at once
• giving up things that bring them comfort
• implementing complicated, time-consuming strategies
But of course...nothing changes if nothing changes. You have to start somewhere.
IF you want to add more life to your years.
"Healthy aging" was the intention behind the formulation of my organic functional coffees, "Thunderbird" and "El Oso".
Specifically, I wanted to create coffees that could be enjoyed at any point in a person's healing journey - whether it was to help prevent dis-ease, or as part of a practical care plan to help restore ease.
In short, I wanted to create a coffee so comprehensive that it helped address many of the dysfunctional patterns I was seeing, without a person having to give up the very thing that not only brings them comfort, but is also something that many people drink every morning anyway.
And by formulating it the way I did, it saves a person hundreds of dollars a month by packing essentially 10 different supplements (not counting the coffee itself or the cacao in El Oso) with meaningful dosages into one cup for just $1.50 per serving.
It also just tastes like the smoothest, very best cup of coffee you've ever had.
All organic ingredients. No fillers. No undisclosed ingredients or hidden "proprietary formulas". No bu****it.
It's everything a true functional coffee should be.
