You know...I haven't written a whole lot about El Oso, which is a real shame, because it's been my daily drinker ever since I put it out into the world. It's essentially the exact same formulation as Thunderbird, but with the addition of organic Peruvian cacao.

And while I've shared a lot of ways both of my coffees can benefit your body, today I want to share how they can water your melon to benefit your brain and your mental/emotional health...because EVERY single ingredient has something amazing to offer.

Especially for the aging brain...which, technically, is all of us.

In case you didn't know, the main reason I created these coffees was specifically to support healthy aging.

After over a decade of working with sick people between the ages of 2 and 92, I've gotten an up-close look at just how much chronic stress can destroy a person's health, and what areas of the body could really use support while working on mitigating those chronic stressors. And while the body is remarkably resilient in its ability to handle a lot of stuff, when the brain starts to fail...it's really bad.

So this is what I came up with.

I want to be clear...neither of these coffees is a cure for anything. They're support. A way for you to nourish your body and brain with a lot of things you're probably not taking regularly, mixed in with something that you probably are.

And if you are...nothing would make me happier than knowing you were nourishing yourself with something I created specifically for that purpose.

Feed your head.

What do you think will take all of the blame when you give an unhealthy, chronically stressed person with an unhealthy lifestyle and environment 5+ cups of non-organic, pesticide-laden coffee brewed in a never-cleaned, moldy Keurig with fluoridated, chlorinated water served in a styrofoam cup with seed oil-filled fake milk substitutes and fake sweeteners...every day...
..for years...
..and that person gets even sicker and eventually crashes?

Essentially, something like the following happens...

"Ohmygawd...I discovered this online sabotage guru who told me I had to literally give up coffee because I totes blew out my adrenals and caffeine is basically a pesticide that kills off competing plants so the coffee plants can rise tall just like the people who rule us use caffeine in the exact same way and the reason it's available on every corner is to poison us and keep us down so they can rise up tall above us. Have you read the book "Caffeine Blues"? Coffee isn't what you think it is. You're being farmed. Have you seen a caffeinated spider build a web? It's crazy...and humans are basically spiders because we spend so much time on the world wide web."

Sounds kinda nutso, doesn't it?

"But I've made the switch to functional coffee, which is better for me, and it even came with a nifty little frother so I can whip it up in 30 seconds and get out the door!"

Slow your roll, pardo. That frother means you're drinking instant coffee...which isn't as healthy as you think it is. (see graphic)

But what if you used regenerative organic BREWED coffee with various healing botanicals in healthy dosages that added a whole buncha beneficial compounds into your daily cup - ON TOP OF ALL the beneficial compounds that ALREADY existed in the coffee...and spring water...brewed at home in a clean machine or French press or pour-over? What if you used raw honey and real milk or cream? What if you drank it from a glass or ceramic mug and limited yourself to 1-3 cups a day?

What if you also learned how to manage your toxic environment, broke up with hustle culture, and learned how to create a lifestyle you weren't trying to escape from so that you became a healthier person?

Sounds pretty badass, doesn't it? I mean, if you truly care about your health, then the coffee you drink every day should reflect that.

"Wait...did you say that coffee has a bunch of good stuff in it?"

Why yes. Yes, it does.

(from the paper linked in the comments)

"The physiological impacts of coffee are attributed to its complex composition, which consists of more than 1000 different bioactive compounds such as caffeine, kahweol, chlorogenic acid, cafestol, and different micronutrients like magnesium, potassium, and vitamin E. Recent studies have implicated coffee as a immunomodulator, antiobesity, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antigenotoxic, and cell proliferation inhibitor."

Throughout all stages of a woman's life, the constant fluctuation of monthly hormonal cycles can significantly impact her metabolic health, gut health, reproductive health, nutrient absorption, digestion, weight, mood, energy, bone density, libido, fertility, mental health, skin health, hair growth, muscle tone, and immune function.

Literally, everything takes a hit. And the longer she delays doing something about it, the worse things get...until one day, she looks in the mirror and barely recognizes the woman staring back at her.

Which means implementing the right strategies to support her hormones and all the downstream issues that are affected by them can be a real game-changer...especially as she enters her 40s…IF she wants to age in good health.

Sleep, diet, sunlight, exercise, and stress reduction are always great places to start, while targeted supplementation with the right nutrients can help get the ball rolling and keep you moving closer to your goal.

Where many women (and men) get sidelined is in trying to figure out the best supplements for their specific needs without getting overwhelmed by having to take too many all throughout the day.
So I created two all-organic functional coffees - “Thunderbird” and “El Oso” - packed with several of the most-studied nutrients to offer the most impactful, broad-spectrum support for healthy hormones and all the issues they affect both upstream and downstream, to make it easier to get you in the game and start stacking wins.

And yeah, it’s equally great for men, too.

In just one cup, you get six different types of organic, medicinal mushroom fruiting body extracts, five types of grass-fed/pasture-raised/wild-caught collagen, creatine monohydrate, organic maca root, and L-theanine, blended with the very best organic Arabica coffee from small family farms across Central and South America.

That’s like 15 different supplements in one (16 if you count the organic cacao in “El Oso”)…and all you gotta do is drink your morning coffee.

Hormonal cycles happen. Getting older happens.

How they happen is up to you.

Everyone knows the old riddle: What goes up, but never comes down?

A: Your age.

There's a lot of talk everywhere about "anti-aging" - whether it's a pill, a powder, a potion, or a practice.

But the truth is, aging is a fact of life. It's going to happen no matter what you swallow or rub on your skin.

Personally, I think the better term is "healthy aging", in that instead of focusing on adding more years to your life, you prioritize adding more life to your years. Because, at the end of the day, what's the point of living longer if those years are packed with nonstop pain and misery?

As a functional health practitioner, I work with a broad spectrum of people of all ages - from 2 to 92, with virtually every kind of chronic dis-ease issue you could imagine. And over the course of eleven years, I've noticed a commonality involving many of the same fundamental dysfunctions when tracing back through a person's health history to uncover their root cause(s)...
..poor mitochondrial health/low energy, detoxification issues, digestive issues, poor immune function, blood sugar dysregulation, poor muscle tone, poor gut health, lack of exercise, cognitive issues, inflammation, pain, and hormonal imbalances...to name a few.

These are all things that, had there been a few more "simple" strategies in place early on to address them, perhaps things wouldn't have gotten so bad down the road.

And on the flip side, once things HAVE gotten so bad, it becomes imperative to begin implementing a wide variety of strategies and therapies in order to turn things around. The key, however, is being able to work those things in a little at a time, rather than trying to do ALL of the things all at once...because few things will stop a person's progress - or even willingness to engage - than...

• ignoring the fundamentals
• having to take too many supplements at one time
• making too many lifestyle changes all at once
• giving up things that bring them comfort
• implementing complicated, time-consuming strategies

But of course...nothing changes if nothing changes. You have to start somewhere.

IF you want to add more life to your years.

"Healthy aging" was the intention behind the formulation of my organic functional coffees, "Thunderbird" and "El Oso".

Specifically, I wanted to create coffees that could be enjoyed at any point in a person's healing journey - whether it was to help prevent dis-ease, or as part of a practical care plan to help restore ease.

In short, I wanted to create a coffee so comprehensive that it helped address many of the dysfunctional patterns I was seeing, without a person having to give up the very thing that not only brings them comfort, but is also something that many people drink every morning anyway.

And by formulating it the way I did, it saves a person hundreds of dollars a month by packing essentially 10 different supplements (not counting the coffee itself or the cacao in El Oso) with meaningful dosages into one cup for just $1.50 per serving.

It also just tastes like the smoothest, very best cup of coffee you've ever had.

All organic ingredients. No fillers. No undisclosed ingredients or hidden "proprietary formulas". No bu****it.

It's everything a true functional coffee should be.

Top o' the new year, friends! I have some exciting announcements for Astro Botanico!

When I created Thunderbird, I did so with the specific intention of creating a coffee to help with healthy aging, wellness, and overall performance.

Working as a functional health practitioner for over a decade, I have a lot of experiential knowledge helping people with virtually every health issue you can imagine, and many of those issues have a lot of root cause commonality and symptomatic overlap.

In short, Thunderbird is my answer to help support many of the things I was seeing people struggle with. And from the reviews and comments people share with me, it seems to be working as intended.

In fact, it’s become so popular that it’s been outselling my other two coffees by a ratio of around 25 to 1, which tells me a lot of things - namely, that some changes are in order. And because I’m driven to always try and make ALL of the things I create even better, I decided to reformulate them all.

So…with Thunderbird, it previously had 5 types of organic fruiting body extracts of Chaga, Maitake, Sh*take, Turkey Tail, and Reishi mushrooms. It now has SIX! I’ve replaced Shiitake with Lion’s Mane (which is amazing for the brain), and also added Cordyceps. Not only that, but I’ve increased the already high dosage from 2000mg/ serving to a whopping 3000mg/serving! I’ve also increased the amount of creatine and L-theanine.

And despite the changes, it still tastes exactly the same.

But in order to do all of that without raising the price, I sacrificed the colostrum - which I LOVE - but it’s also really expensive as an ingredient, and the dose wasn’t as high as I would’ve liked because I was trying to keep Thunderbird within a specific price point.

However, I’m also formulating an amazing functional creamer that features colostrum, so I hope it’ll be back in the mix soon.

Now, because Thunderbird was outselling the other two coffees by a lot, my options were to either get rid of them or change them. So I changed them.

El Oso will be just like Thunderbird, but with the additional benefits and flavor of organic Peruvian cacao. El Cosmico will be a vegan version of Thunderbird, omitting the collagen and adding another organic mushroom fruiting body extract with similar benefits as collagen - Tremella.

The new formulation of Thunderbird is available right now, though the change in the labeling on the bag will take a couple of weeks. I also have new bags coming in.

The new formulation for El Oso and El Cosmico will be rolled out in a week or two, as I’m waiting on ingredients to arrive. Until they do, I’m pausing sales on those two products because I don’t want any first-time buyers to order something that’s going to be changed shortly.

And then once those are out, it'll be time to begin wrapping up and releasing all of the other exciting new things I've been working on.

As always, I very much appreciate everyone's continued support in helping me grow Astro Botanico. None of this is possible without you!

Here's to a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2026!
