Top o' the new year, friends! I have some exciting announcements for Astro Botanico!

When I created Thunderbird, I did so with the specific intention of creating a coffee to help with healthy aging, wellness, and overall performance.

Working as a functional health practitioner for over a decade, I have a lot of experiential knowledge helping people with virtually every health issue you can imagine, and many of those issues have a lot of root cause commonality and symptomatic overlap.

In short, Thunderbird is my answer to help support many of the things I was seeing people struggle with. And from the reviews and comments people share with me, it seems to be working as intended.

In fact, it’s become so popular that it’s been outselling my other two coffees by a ratio of around 25 to 1, which tells me a lot of things - namely, that some changes are in order. And because I’m driven to always try and make ALL of the things I create even better, I decided to reformulate them all.

So…with Thunderbird, it previously had 5 types of organic fruiting body extracts of Chaga, Maitake, Sh*take, Turkey Tail, and Reishi mushrooms. It now has SIX! I’ve replaced Shiitake with Lion’s Mane (which is amazing for the brain), and also added Cordyceps. Not only that, but I’ve increased the already high dosage from 2000mg/ serving to a whopping 3000mg/serving! I’ve also increased the amount of creatine and L-theanine.

And despite the changes, it still tastes exactly the same.

But in order to do all of that without raising the price, I sacrificed the colostrum - which I LOVE - but it’s also really expensive as an ingredient, and the dose wasn’t as high as I would’ve liked because I was trying to keep Thunderbird within a specific price point.

However, I’m also formulating an amazing functional creamer that features colostrum, so I hope it’ll be back in the mix soon.

Now, because Thunderbird was outselling the other two coffees by a lot, my options were to either get rid of them or change them. So I changed them.

El Oso will be just like Thunderbird, but with the additional benefits and flavor of organic Peruvian cacao. El Cosmico will be a vegan version of Thunderbird, omitting the collagen and adding another organic mushroom fruiting body extract with similar benefits as collagen - Tremella.

The new formulation of Thunderbird is available right now, though the change in the labeling on the bag will take a couple of weeks. I also have new bags coming in.

The new formulation for El Oso and El Cosmico will be rolled out in a week or two, as I’m waiting on ingredients to arrive. Until they do, I’m pausing sales on those two products because I don’t want any first-time buyers to order something that’s going to be changed shortly.

And then once those are out, it'll be time to begin wrapping up and releasing all of the other exciting new things I've been working on.

As always, I very much appreciate everyone's continued support in helping me grow Astro Botanico. None of this is possible without you!

Here's to a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2026!

In my never-ending quest to make the very best functional coffee on the planet (and thanks in part to a few emails I've received from some awesome customers), I'm excited to offer a trial run on "The Thirty Birdie"...a whopping 1 lb 3 oz bag that gives you a 30-day supply of Thunderbird.

AND...I'm offering it at nearly 40% off the cost of two 12-oz bags.
So if you're one of the many amazing people who've been buying two 12-oz bags at a time to make it through the month...
..or just buying one bag and drinking it every other day and skimping on all of Thunderbird's amazing health-building benefits because of the price...
..now's your chance to get the same amount of big bird perks in just one bag, while also feeling carefree about making it your daily drinker for just $1.50 per cup.

As always, I really love hearing from people on how I can make Astro Botanico even better, so if you have a request...or if you've been holding out from trying my coffee, I'd love to know why...so please don't hesitate to either comment below or shoot me an email to [email protected], and I'll try my very best to do what I can to earn your support.

Give what you get.

Buy a bag of any coffee from Astro Botanico and I'll give you a free sample bag of the same.

All I ask is that you share it with someone you love...and preferably someone you disagree with. And then sit down with them and have a conversation to look for ways to find common ground with each other, and hopefully...if you both do it well...the two of you walk away from the conversation loving each other a little bit more than when you began.

Because here's the thing...the last few years - and especially the last few days - have shone a light on one very uncomfortable truth...which is that most people aren't actually equipped to handle the truth - especially when it involves intense self-reflection, confronting their cognitive biases, or asking whether their complacency has made them complicit in the lies.

And the truth is, yeah...it does.

Each one of us needs to begin the painful process of peering into the shadows of the dark places in our fractured minds and our wounded egos to start addressing our own fears and cognitive dissonance so that we can stop working our s**t out on everyone around us and instead, get to work learning how to help each other step into the light by cultivating patience, accountability, dignity, respect, forgiveness, and love...
..literally for the sake of our children and the future of humanity.
Yet for some reason, so many people are choosing a comfortable lie over an uncomfortable truth.

But no more. Not now...or ever again. Something's changed, and if you can't feel it, then you're part of the problem.

For those of you who're choosing to continue aligning yourself with the darkness and stay hidden in the shadows...you should know that the rest of us won't stop shining our light into every crevice to expose who the demons really are and reveal the Truth once and for all - no matter how painful it is.

Because only then can we start to heal.

Shoot, I'll even throw a nifty coffee towel in your sack to mop up any tears that start flowing.

Ladies...if you want your man to knock out that honey-do list, boost his mental focus, and kick more ass in life (or if you want that for yourself), switch his daily cup of coffee to Thunderbird.

I've been receiving a lot of really amazing feedback from people about their experience with drinking Thunderbird every morning.

Across the board, they've all shared how they can tell a noticeable difference in their overall performance, improved cognitive function, improved gut function, decreased pain in joints and muscles, calm, centered emotional states, increased energy levels (due to the botanicals rather than the caffeine, as many of them ordered the decaf version), and more.

And of course, they're in love with the taste. Despite all of the amazing botanicals in every serving, Thunderbird just tastes like the very best coffee you've ever had. Which makes sense considering I'm using the very best organic coffees from small family farms throughout Central and South America.

This is why I feel confident in claiming that there is NO other functional coffee available that even comes close to what I've created with regard to overall quality of ingredients, dosing, taste, benefits, and price point. It's also available in regular, decaf, and half-caf, so you can choose the level of big bird energy that you want to fly with.

Thank you for your review and for helping me spread the word, Lisa!

Another Friday and another stellar review for Thunderbird! This one was so filled with glowing praise that I had to edit it just to get it to fit, but you can read the rest on the website if you're curious.

Thank you so much, Michael!

If you've never had cold-brewed coffee, this is your sign to try it. The difference in flavor alone will likely make you pause and say, "Whoa"...but the goodness doesn't end there.

But first, what is cold brewing?

It's simply steeping coffee grounds in cold water for 8-24 hours (some say even up to 72 hours, but I've never found that necessary), then pouring it through a filter or strainer to eliminate the grounds.

What you'll be left with is a full-bodied, smooth, sweet, mellow brew that lacks the harsh, bitter acidity that many people tend to dislike about coffee. In fact, cold brewing results in a heady elixir with over 60% less acidity than heat brewing.

This is because heat extracts many of the acidic compounds and tannins that contribute to that bitterness in coffee. On the flip side, cold brewing extracts more lipids and oils (as you can see floating on top in the picture) that contribute to its full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel and flavor. (The white specks you see are also oils, but have solidified in the cold.)

This also makes it easier on the stomach and may reduce the discomfort for those prone to digestive issues, acid reflux, and heartburn. Though, I'd also argue that not drinking coffee on an empty stomach could also reduce that discomfort, even with heat brewing.

Even better, cold brewing preserves a higher concentration of beneficial polyphenols like chlorogenic acids and trigonelline, which can help lower your risk of many chronic diseases.

And in case you didn't know, drinking coffee already lowers the risk of all-cause mortality between 16%-30%, depending on how many cups a day you consume and what you put in your coffee.

Most recipes will tell you to use a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:4 to 1:8, or 1 gram of coffee for every 4 or 8 grams of water. This makes a strong concentrate that needs to be diluted with water at a ratio of 2:1 or 1:1 concentrate to water (or to taste) as your final step, wherein you'd pour off, say, 6 oz of concentrate diluted with 6 oz of water (for 1:1). Or if you wanted it to be stronger, 6 oz of concentrate diluted with 3 oz water.

However, I prefer a "ready-to-drink" brew, so I cold brew Thunderbird with the same measurements as I hot brew it (37 g of coffee to 400 g of water, or a ratio of about 1:11), which yields an even more amazing cup than I thought possible...without the need to dilute it at all...though, your tastes may vary.

And in case you're wondering, yes, all of the powdered botanicals in Thunderbird completely dissolve in cold brew as well.

While there are all kinds of fancy cold brew methods and "machinery", I just use a simple Mason jar to steep in the fridge and then pour it through my French press to strain. You could also just cold brew it in the French press, but I wanted to be able to make sure all the botanicals dissolved, so I used a glass jar. Point being, you don't need to spend any money on anything fancy - unless you really want to.

Regardless of what you use, just give it a try. I think it'll blow your mind.

08/07/2025

Running hot water through plastic is a really bad idea once you learn how bad microplastics in the body are, because hot water leaches microscopic particles of plastic into it when it comes into contact with it.

Microplastics have been linked to a wide range of serious health risks, including doubling the risk of heart attacks and strokes in people with pre-existing heart disease, disruption of the gut microbiome, physical irritation and inflammation in the digestive and respiratory tracts, interfering with hormone signaling, reproductive and metabolic disorders, cancer, neurotoxicity, and more.

These microplastics and nanoplastics are small enough to breach cell barriers and the blood-brain barrier, allowing them to travel throughout the body and accumulate in organs and tissues, including the heart, brain, colon, placenta, sc***um, lungs, and gut...pretty much the entire body.

It's also believed that the accumulation is irreversible, with only a fraction of it being excreted naturally - unless you actively work to target, bind, and remove it specifically.

And don't be lulled into a false sense of security just because a product is labeled "BPA Free"...because the common replacements for BPA are just as bad - if not worse - than BPA itself.

Those replacements (sometimes referred to as "regrettable substitutions") exhibit similar endocrine-disrupting properties - among them, mimicking estrogen, interfering with hormonal systems, disrupting reproductive development, affecting neurological functioning, obesity, and increased cardiovascular disease. Even worse, some of them are even MORE potent than BPA in activating estrogen receptors.

And if that wasn't bad enough...Google "roaches in coffee maker"...or "mold in coffee maker". It's not pretty. In fact, it's downright nasty.

Now ask yourself, "How often do you clean out your coffee maker?"

If you don't clean it out regularly, gross. And if you do, there's still the issue with microplastics.

This is one of the many reasons I raise an eyebrow anytime someone says they can't "do" coffee. Was it truly the coffee, or was it mold, roach p**p, or microplastics? Or the fluoride, chlorine, and pharmaceutical waste in the water it was brewed with? Or the plastic coating that lines paper coffee cups, which melts when hot water is poured in it, releasing up to 25,000 microplastic particles into the coffee, along with fluoride, chloride, nitrate, and sulfate...and toxic heavy metals such as lead, chromium, cadmium, and arsenic? Or the pesticides and glyphosate that were sprayed on non-organic coffee? Or the seed oils in milk substitutes?

Or...or...or...lots of variables to look at.

So start with high-quality, organic coffee and clean water. THEN take a look at what you're brewing your coffee in.

My recommendation is to look for something made entirely with stainless steel, glass, or ceramic...a French press, a pour over set, Moka pot (don't get aluminum), percolator (don't get aluminum), or a certified plastic-free automatic brewer or espresso machine...neither of those last two will be terribly cheap, by the way.

Personally, I've used a stainless steel French press for over 20 years. It was really inexpensive, durable, keeps the coffee hot, brews in 4 minutes, cleans up easily, and makes an amazing cup of coffee. I mean...I've had it for over 20 years, which should tell you something.

The world we live in today is filled with all kinds of nonsense that amounts to an all-out assault on our health, and making smarter choices is one of the best things you can do for yourself if you want to thrive.

May as well start with your coffee.

Thunderbird reviews are coming in...thank you, Betsy!

The only functional coffee using 5 different fruiting body-only medicinal mushroom extracts, 5 types of collagen from pastured/grass-fed/wild caught sources, grass-fed colostrum, L-theanine, micronized creatine, organic maca root, and organic coffee from small family farms across Central and South America...
..and it just tastes like the best cup of coffee you ever had.

But don't take my word for it...Betsy knows what's up.

If you were among the many who purchased my newest coffee, Thunderbird, when I released it a couple of weeks ago...you should've received an email from Astro Botanico asking for a review. If you don't see it in your Inbox, please check your spam folder. The email goes out 14 days from the day you placed your order.

Since many people base their buying decisions on the experiences of people who've already tried the product, I really need everyone who's tried it and loved it to please take a couple of minutes and leave me a review.

So while I love all the private messages and comments in my posts telling me how much you love it, I REALLY need you to write an official review so that it can go up on the website from a verified user.

Tell me what you loved, tell me what you thought about the taste, tell me about what kind of brewing method you used, and whether you noticed anything beneficial from it yet (sometimes it can take a little while for some of the benefits to kick in after regular use, so it may be a little early for that for some). What do you think about the ingredients and their quality? The ethos of my company? Or anything else you love about Astro Botanico.

And if there's something you didn't love or something you'd like me to consider offering, I'd love to hear that too. You can either put that in your review or use the "Contact" page on the website and shoot me an email. I read and respond to every message I receive, and I love hearing from you.

In short...YOU guys are my influencers, and I'm depending on each and every one of you to help me spread the word about Astro Botanico to help it grow into everything I know it can be!
Thank you! ❤️
