Happy New Year to all our dearest friends, customers, and followers! Hoping that 2024 is off to a great start for all of you. On our end, this new year is bringing some big changes.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Two Fauns Farm will not be returning this growing season.
As some of you know, partway through 2023, we were asked to leave the land that we had been farming for the past three growing seasons. We are so grateful for those of you who offered the use of your land to us while we searched for our own farm to purchase. At this time, we are not willing to start another farm on land we donβt own. The necessary investments involved in starting a farm, many of which cannot be reclaimed upon moving the farm, make this a less than desirable option. While we are so blessed that our small farm provided all the income that we needed throughout the past three years, we do not have the capital at this time to purchase our own farm.
These factors have led us to do some deep soul searching as to what our next steps are. While Evan is a farmer through and through, Athena has realized that this interruption in her farming career allows her the opportunity to explore her other passions. The Fauns have decided to separate on their own unique paths. Evan will be moving back to the Northeast and will keep working in the agricultural field as he looks to purchase a farm near his family. Athena will be moving to Kalamazoo and will pursue her love of music and the healing arts while finding employment with an organization which uplifts people and community.
We know that this may be hard for some of you to hear. We thank all of you for supporting our small farm and local agriculture as a whole. It was because of you that we had the success we did. We are so grateful to all of you for believing in us, our little farm, and our commitment to the Earth. We know in our hearts that dedicating the past three years of our lives to the healing of the soil and the shifting of the agricultural paradigm had a positive effect on the Earth and humanity. We all felt it first hand with every meal we shared together from our garden. In the last few years we have seen some other great farmers moving into the area and know that good food is still available and deserves your support. Please continue visiting your local farmers markets and connecting with small farmers!
We still have a ton of garlic available and as a big thank you for all your support over the years, we would like to offer as much garlic as you can handle to anyone who would like to come and say goodbye this month while Evan is still in South Haven!
Again, THANK YOU all so much. We have met the most incredible people at our farmers market booth through the years, and we will forever cherish this chapter of our lives. So much love to you all.
Best wishes this year and all the years to come,
Athena and Evan
