Visit our unique mountaintop alpaca farm and store, and connect to what matters – yourself, your family, a real farm experience. Apple Hill Farm is open year-round hosting a number of educational animal experiences, including guided walking tours of our working alpaca farm. On these tours, guests get up close and personal with the alpacas, llamas, donkeys, horses, goats and other animals that work

and play at Apple Hill Farm. Every animal has a specific job, and many have a story as well! In addition to farm animals, Apple Hill Farm is also home to the largest selection of alpaca products in the High Country of North Carolina. With more than 20 varieties of alpaca yarn, gloves, scarves, socks, sweaters, vests and stuffed animals there is something for everyone.

With September's arrival we're all starting to think about fall color!

Our friends at High Country Host put together this graphic to give you an idea of when to expect peak fall color this year!

We get some amazing views here on the farm, so we hope you'll join us to see the animals and the leaves!

The High Country Farm Tour will be held in Watauga County on Saturday, September 12th, from 10 am to 4 pm and features six unique farms.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at each farm during a guided tour. Each farm will feature products for sale in addition to the tour experience. Expect to find flowers, crafts, self-care products, vegetables, and a variety of meats. Don’t forget your cooler!

Upon purchase, you will receive a digital map with all farm addresses for you to plan your day. Each ticket covers one carload of attendees. Please print your ticket to show at each farm or save your digital copy.

Tickets are $35 until September 4th; beginning September 5th prices will go up to $45.

You’re also invited to join us on Friday, September 11th, from 6 pm to 8 pm in downtown Boone at locally-owned Betty’s Biscuits for a meet and greet with the farmers, Biscuits, and Bubbly! Tickets are $20, and include a glass of ch*****ne, hibiscus tea, and tasty biscuit sliders! You can add on this experience after purchasing your farm tour tickets!

Be sure to enjoy a fabulous brunch on Saturday & Sunday morning. Some locally-owned brunch spots are Vidalia, Boone Bagelry, Melanie’s Food Fantasy, AND you can always go back to Betty’s Biscuits.

If you want to stay at a farm in the area check out Hipcamp for available campsites, cabins, or other fun lodging options!

There's something peaceful about feed rounds on the farm - even with the sound of the Kubota in the background!

Our farm is home to around 75 animals and it's a big job to care for all of them, but we wouldn't trade it for the world!

Dolly and Dude are loving being back on the tour route!

We recently had them trade places with Buckaroo and they love all the tours! Buckaroo is enjoying hanging out 'down below' with all of female alpacas and taking a break from the hustle and bustle. All three donkeys are very social, so we like to swap things up every few months so they all get a chance to see our guests!
