I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Here’s our final spread from Thursday, which we’ll be eating for days. •••• Fresh orange cranberry sauce; wild rice salad with turnips*, beets*, carrots*, pepitas, and pomegranate seeds; collard* salad with pancetta, apple, and currants; cornbread* and mushroom stuffing; green bean* casserole; hasselback butternut squash*; salted orange sorghum* pecan pie; gravy and heritage turkey*. We are so proud that everything with a * was produced locally, by us or other farms, as were all of the eggs, onions, and garlic used. We are very grateful to live in a community that values locally grown food. 👩‍🌾💚👨‍🌾

Obtained some good ol’ North Carolina sorghum syrup today. We’ve never tried it, so I’m excited for it to help form our Thanksgiving pecan pie. Grateful for the tip from on where to find this delight (and for the turkey we’ll be roasting). Preparing *myself* for stuffing! 🦃🍗🍽

From forest floor to cutting board to dinner plate ... Not only do we farm, we forage! This was a first, finding black trumpet mushrooms. We combined them with some dried morels and shiitakes for a GF pasta carbonara (kale salad in the background). Deeee-licious!

Food Magic. Against The Grain dill and feta chicken sausage, Mediterranean-inspired carrot and fennel slaw, and creamy Heritage Homestead feta, tomato and cucumber salad. Majority of the veggies came from our plot.
... I constantly have had to remind myself this year while fixing meals, "We grew this food." The overwhelming feeling of gratitude is intense. We have a freezer full of food and still more growing. Give thanks to whomever you choose, the fact we are all here on this Earth that provides...this doesn't get any more magical.
