The summer’s flown by quick for me and the farm ~ the timing of when certain things could have happened, hilling potatoes, pruning tomatoes and little rain in June, a good bit of heat and rain in July has led to smaller but sweeter yields.

The zinnias that I planted between bean rows are coming along nicely ~ very bright spots ~ and the first of the dry beans should be ready to harvest in a week or two along with a continuing availability of colorful potatoes.

A great thing to include on any summer plate is Bacon or/and Potatoes!

Check out how Holly Agnew (who powers the Daffodil Spring booth at the each week) added color to her BLT with delicious smoked bacon. Holly also made this meal with veggies from Tumbling Shoals Farm and fellow King Streeters and K**b Hill bread.

In the second and third photos, my mother parboiled Daffodil Spring potatoes, then smashed and roasted them with salt and oil.
