This keeps happening. And it’s NOT okay. 20,000 lives burned to ashes. 20,000 voices screaming in agony, trapped and without hope of rescue. And the farmers and papers will talk about the tragedy of losing “valuable livestock” when these are all sentient LIVES more intelligent than your family dog. Yet, they are reduced to objects, valued only in the profit they bring.
I’m sick of this s**t, y’all. This is a brutal business of DEATH. How have we decided this is okay? Adorable, affectionate sentient beings killed by the millions every year in the US for “food” and then mourned as a loss in profit when they die horrifically in a barn fire.
Guess what? The farmer was insured. So maybe they don’t care at all about the screaming babies inside those walls. They get their fat check and go on about their day. Meanwhile that check was bought from the agony of 20,000 lives being extinguished in a hellish fire. That farmer better hope karma isn’t a real thing.
I was in the cattle business with my husband. But I woke up to its horrors. And I didn’t look away - in fact, I dug deeper. The more I learned, the more I realized that animal ag is a cancer on this world. By sheer grit, I turned our cattle ranch into a sanctuary for farmed animals.
