We mourn the passing of Valerie’s father, Duane. Duane and Carol Jean Hegna were responsible for developing the foundational Heatherstone registered Holstein herd. Duane was a steward of the land and an early innovator in alfalfa production and quality testing. Duane was always known to be the first in the area to cut first crop...a tradition son-in-law Mike and grandson Chase continue to follow ☺️

Duane Leroy Hegna, age 91, passed away on January 2, 2026, at Meadowview Memory Care in Baraboo following a brief illness.
