Just past midnight, my first best gal Bitsy (born Pippi Longstocking Gitlin) ascended to a higher plane of existence. She was my truest companion for nearly 19 years. Her passing was sudden, shocking and devastating but mercifully quick. Her last day was unremarkable, full of the usual kisses, treats, naps and dumb little serenades she was accustomed to. I couldn’t have picked a better little friend to see my on way to this next chapter, and am grateful for all the people who loved and were loved by her, especially my most beloved . She will be deeply missed. It’s never long enough.
