This morning, we made a delivery to a bakery in McDonough, Georgia, that is doing something truly special.

Sol Flour • Café & Bakeshop isn’t simply creating beautiful baked goods. They’re going a step further, getting to know the farmers behind their ingredients. From the flour to the dairy to the meat, they’re intentionally seeking out farmers who care deeply about their land, their animals, and the food they’re producing.

And that’s how our paths crossed.

Sol Flour was searching for clean, thoughtfully raised chicken, and that search led them to our farm.

Now, they’re taking our pasture-raised chicken and transforming it into the most incredible, buttery, flaky chicken sausage rolls.

And today, standing in our pasture with one of those beautiful creations in my hand, I couldn’t help but think about the journey it took to get here.

Because this is where it started.

With living animals. With healthy soil. With farmers making intentional decisions, day after day, long before an ingredient ever reaches a kitchen.

We want people to think about where their food comes from. To ask questions. To know their farmers. To understand that how food is raised matters just as much as how it’s prepared.

And when farmers and artisans who share those values come together, something really beautiful happens.

We’re incredibly grateful for this growing partnership with Sol Flour and for the care they put into every ingredient they choose.

This is what connecting farms to tables should look like. 🤎

Hey, Macon farm friends! 🤍

It was processing week for us, and we ran into a little delay, so unfortunately we will not be at the Poplar Street Farmers Market this afternoon from 3–6 PM.

We hate to miss you all, but we’ll be back next Wednesday with fresh inventory!

If you need anything before then, you can still place an online order, and you’re always welcome to pick up directly from our farm in Barnesville.

Thank you so much for understanding and for continuing to support our farm. We’ll see y’all next week! 🐓🌿

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the word “regenerative.”

We use it to talk about soil.
About pasture.
About water.
About rebuilding what has been depleted.

But maybe regenerative agriculture is about more than healing land.

Maybe it’s also about healing our relationship with food.

For a long time, most of us have been taught to see food as something that simply appears on a shelf—wrapped, priced, convenient, disconnected from everything that came before it.

But food has a story.

Someone woke up before sunrise for it.
Someone checked water in the dark.
Someone worried about the weather.
Someone lost animals.
Someone made mistakes.
Someone learned.
Someone kept going.

And somewhere beneath all of that, there was soil.

Living soil. Rain. Grass. Sunlight. Animals. People.

Maybe one of the most important things small farms can do isn’t just produce food differently.

Maybe it’s to help people remember that food was never supposed to be anonymous.

That agriculture is a relationship.

Between the farmer and the land.
The animal and the pasture.
The family and the farmer.
And ultimately, all of us and the place our food comes from.

Maybe that’s what we’re really trying to regenerate.

This view never gets old. 🤍

Two batches of birds, two different stages, all out on pasture doing exactly what chickens are meant to do.

Every day these shelters move forward onto fresh grass. It’s more work, more moving, more planning, and definitely more steps than we can count 😂 — but this is the kind of farming we believe in.

Fresh pasture. Sunshine. Fresh air. Truly clean feed. Room to be chickens.

There’s something pretty special about looking across a field and seeing what started as a little idea slowly turning into a real farm.

From pasture to plate. 🤎

One of our awesome customers sent us this after picking up a few whole birds from the farm, and this is exactly why we love what we do.

There’s something pretty special about seeing food we raised on the farm make its way onto someone else’s grill and table. Knowing where your food came from, how it was raised, and the care that went into it makes the meal mean a little more.

Pasture-raised chicken, cooked over the grill and looking pretty hard to beat. 🔥🐔

Know your farmer. Know your food.

Farming changes you.
At some point you stop caring whether the hat is cute and start asking, “Will this keep the sun off my face?” 😂
Apparently this chicken had a different opinion.

From tiny chicks in the brooder to growing birds out on fresh pasture 🌱🐥

Those first few weeks are all about warmth, clean bedding, good feed, and giving them the strongest start we can. Then, once they’re feathered and ready, it’s out to pasture—sunshine, fresh air, grass, bugs, and plenty of room to move.

We love watching this transition every batch. It’s a simple glimpse into what raising pasture-raised chicken looks like here at Wannabe Farms. 🤍
