Did you know that chickens really do not care about what eggs they hatch? 🐣 as long as a baby is just born within two days. It will have a pecking beak, you can place hatched incubated eggs under a hen, and she will take them, if she’s at the end of her broodiness (21 days) a pecking beak is something to get out of the egg and it makes their chirp sound different to a hen. I have had several hens over the years that will collect their own eggs, but it’s very rare. They just see a clutch of eggs and start sitting. They don’t care who put them there. I’ve seen hens steal babies, when they want to be a mama. I think the sweetest thing I’ve seen is coparenting. Other chickens, taking care of the pack or two moms sharing babies. They both watch over them teach them together, how to hide, how to hunt, when to go up. Chickens are amazing creatures!!
