Lamb prices usually peak twice a year. At Orthodox (Greek) Easter and Eid al Adha (the Festival of the Sacrifice). This year, Eid al Adha will begin the evening of September 1st. It is customary for Muslims to slaughter sheep, goats, or other animals in commemoration of Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son. Producers should begin making plans to sell their lambs, sheep, and goats in advance of this holiday, so that they may receive the most profitable prices.
