Garlic scapes and shiitake mushrooms on the farm stand. $2 for 1 lb garlic scapes and $2 for a 4 oz bag of shiitake.

Not sure how to use garlic scapes? We like to cut them up into about 1 inch long pieces and toss them in a freezer bag. Then throughout the year grab a handful and toss into eggs, spaghetti sauce or other recipes.

New 12x30 greenhouse finished. Will add end walls this fall. Cost $1.66 sqft compared to a commercial one at $12 to $15 a sqft. Will be able to grow late season crops and have more varieties of plants for sale next spring.

Pumpkins, squash and gourds planted today. Disked, then made raised rows with the hill maker. Holding off until Sunday to plant tomatoes and peppers. (Slight chance of a frost Saturday night).

Planting 22 varieties of potatoes. Use the hill maker attachment for making the potato hills. Supposed to be a humid and wet summer, the hills will help keep the potatoes from rotting.

The greenhouse is open with vegetable plants on sale today until mid June. All plants available on the white board photo, except tomatillo and cucamelon. (They didn't do well in the potting soil so trying a new blend). All organically grown, $1 per plant. Hours are noon until 7 pm, 7 days per week (will open earlier in the morning once the weather warms).

May 1st, potatoes available on the farm stand. Available varieties are: Adirondack blue, Adirondack red. Caribou russet, purple Viking, yellow Nicola, gold rush russet, pinto gold, Carla Rosa, magic Molly, Russian banana, la ratte, and rose finn apple. Bags are $2 each, boxes are variable size and 50 cents a pound. Have mostly $2 bags, was a bad year for potatoes last year and a cold winter in the root cellar.
