Everyone keeps asking...

πŸ«› "When will the peas be ready?" πŸ«›

Well, the peas have quite a tale of woe to tell.

It all started on April Fools' Day. We probably should have known better than to plant that day because apparently Mother Nature was feeling mischievous. πŸ˜„

Over the next two weeks, the Patch received inches and inches of rain, and the peas... well, let's just say very few survived.

So we replanted on April 25th.

Now, under normal circumstances, these peas are ready about 58 days after germination. Give them a week or so to sprout, and that would put us right around June 29th.

But then May decided to be exceptionally cool. And now June is taking a turn too. But peas like cool weather so....πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Whew. Farming sure knows how to keep us humble.

Here's what we do know: The peas are coming. Eventually. πŸ˜„

And when they do, you'll have several opportunities to come out to the Patch and pick your own.

You probably just won't be able to pick both strawberries and peas on the same day this year.

That's farming for you. πŸŒ±πŸ«›

πŸ“ Monday is for ripening. Tuesday is for picking. πŸ“πŸ˜„

The berries need to soak up a little extra sunshine and sweetness, and we'll be back open for picking on Tuesday (8-12 & 4-8p).😍

If strawberry picking is still on your to-do list, don't wait too long. This year's season is likely to be shorter than usual, and the berries are still picking good right now. πŸ’›

After a couple of rainouts and nearly 3 inches of rain, the Patch needs a day to dry out.

As much as we'd love to be open Friday, the fields and parking areas need a little sunshine and a little time to soak up all that water.

And honestly? The berries could use the break too. πŸ˜„

After all that rain, a little sunshine and a little wind will go a long way toward drying things out and bringing those strawberry flavors back into focus.

The good news is that we'll be back open for picking on Saturday!

And get this...

Farmer Kathy convinced Farmer Ed to start an hour earlier than usual! That’s right, we’ll be open from 7-2p on Saturday!πŸŽ‰

So grab your coffee, your favorite picking buddy, and head to the Patch. Whether you're an early bird or prefer to ease into your Saturday, we'll be ready with sweet berries, fresh air, berry-stained fingers, and one of the best traditions of summer.

Because let's be honest...

πŸ“ It's strawberry time!!!! πŸ“
