πŸ“ Okay, time for the answer!

We asked how many times you thought we w**d our strawberry fields each season, and here's the reality:

For our established fields, we generally go through each one 3-4 times, all by hand. πŸ˜³πŸ“

Our newly planted field gives our workers a bit of a break. While the plants are still small, we can use a mechanical w**der to help keep the w**ds in check. Once those strawberry plants get bigger, though, it's back to hand w**ding. That field will usually need to be hand w**ded another 2–3 times before the season is over.

For the farmers out there, you may wonder about the tracks in the soil? We do use a cultivator between the rows, but it’s mostly to help β€œtrain” the runners by moving them into the rows.

So while those strawberries may look like they just magically appear in June...there are a LOT of hours (and a lot of bending over!) behind every berry. πŸ˜‚

And yes, we know exactly which w**ds we'd like to never see again. πŸ˜‰ Lambsquarter we're looking at you!

We've officially picked the last of our sweet corn, which means we're turning the corner toward one of our favorite seasons of the year...

PUMPKIN SEASON! πŸπŸŽƒ

But we're not quite done with summer yet! Our farm store is still open daily, 9 AM–6 PM, with freshly dug potatoes, farm-fresh eggs, honey, and our frozen cream of asparagus soup base for a little while longer.

And those raspberries? Well... they're being stubborn. πŸ˜… They're coming along VERY slowly, so we'll continue to have little hints of them at the markets, but we're still not taking orders. We're keeping our fingers crossed that they'll decide to cooperate soon! πŸ€žπŸ“

Meanwhile, the pumpkin patch is growing like crazy, the gourds are sizing up, and we're getting ready for fall at the Patch. With nearly 40 varieties of pumpkins, gourds, and squash, there's going to be a LOT of fall color around here! πŸŽƒπŸŒˆ

And soon...

🌽 The corn maze
πŸ” Chicken feeding
🚜 Hayrides
πŸŽƒ Pick-your-own pumpkins
πŸ‚ And plenty of opportunities to get outside and make some fall memories

We'll have more details about our fall season coming soon.

Until then, enjoy these last bits of summerβ€”and maybe start making your pumpkin-season plans. Pumpkin season at the Patch begins September 19th!πŸ˜‰πŸŽƒ

🌽 The sweet corn countdown is ON!

We’re down to our last planting of sweet corn, which means the end of the season is officially in sight. 😭

We’ll have fresh-picked corn available through the weekendβ€”and maybe a little longer, depending on what Mother Nature has in mind.

So if you’ve been thinking about:
🌽 one more buttery ear (or three!) for dinner
🌽 freezing some for winter
🌽 making your favorite corn salsa or chowder
🌽 or just stocking up because you know you’ll miss it...

Now’s the time!

Want to make sure you get enough for the freezer? You can pre-order for pickup at the farm or at one of our markets. Just send us a message or give us a call at 608-924-1404.

Sweet corn season is short. Summer is shorter. πŸ’›πŸŒ½

πŸŽƒ Looking for a fall job? Come work at the Patch! πŸ‚

We're looking for 1–2 dependable workers, ages 14–18, to join our fall farm crew!

πŸ“… Starting as early as August 31, the job runs through approximately October 16 and involves 3–4 days per week, with 3–4 hour shifts. Morning, afternoon, or evening hours are availableβ€”we'll work with each hire to establish a consistent schedule.

πŸ’ͺ🏼 You'll be helping us harvest pumpkins, gourds, and squash, wash produce, and tackle all sorts of miscellaneous jobs around the Patch. It's definitely physical work and you'll be spending plenty of time outside, but you'll also get to be part of one of the most fun seasons on the farm! πŸŽƒ

πŸ“š Homeschoolers have been especially great fits for this job, but we're open to any dependable 14–18-year-old looking for a fall job.

Interested? We've put together a short application so we can learn a little about you and your availability.

πŸ₯” The dirt is still drying on these potatoes.

That’s how fresh they are.

Every week we’re digging red and gold potatoes and bringing them straight from the field to you.

Thin skins. Incredible flavor. No peeling required (unless you want to πŸ˜‰).

Roast them. Grill them. Boil them. However you serve them, there’s nothing quite like a freshly dug potato.

Find them at the farm store (open daily 9–6) and at this week’s markets!
