Sticks & Stones Farm

Sticks & Stones Farm We are a family-owned farm growing hydroponic vegetables. We are in the midst of expanding the produ They wanted to enjoy the lifestyle of a family farm.

In 2000, Guy and Barbara Comtois, along with their two sons (Jon-Luc & Travis) purchased 93 acres in Center Barnstead, NH. We had decided to be a traditional farm, but due to adverse weather and the high cost of machinery, we were unable to plant our crops. We figured, “There must be a better way.”

We began researching hydroponics and purchased an ebb and flow system (our first hydroponic system)

. It was costly, and non-expandable, so we researched again and found a stackable drip system that was reasonably priced. We immediately set it up in our living room. We grew lettuce over the winter, and decided this was the way to grow. Our first year was committed to learning, and learn we did. We found standard systems difficult and expensive to maintain. Guy started experimenting with different growing techniques, and, using his knowledge and experience with hydroponics, designed a hydroponic system for our family farm. We like to experiment growing our plants in different ways, always searching for the best way to optimize space and growing. Because of this, we are constantly searching for new and improved ways to make this happen. In 2013 we purchased our first pair of pregnant sows, and have increased in size since then. We are currently renovating the farm, and expanding our pasture-raised meats to include rabbit, lamb, & chicken. We also purchased our first hive. We are looking forward to re-opening in 2017.
