Hoophouse chat with Julie about food security.

We are living in uncertain times. We can provide you with some of the finest food for 22 solid weeks this summer. And if you are a SNAP recipient you can use those benefits (along with HIP) to purchase your share.

I truly believe that one of the best things we can do at this time in history is to raise our own food or support a local farmer to raise it for us. Check us out.

The CSA starts on the week of June 1 and there is still time to sign up.

In these times where food sovereignty, especially around egg production and healthy chicken and turkey raised by our own hands is a strong priority, you can learn how to actualize that on your own property.

Pasturing poultry gives your birds access to the extra nutrients only Nature can supply best, not to mention health-giving sunshine. Yet how do you protect them from predators out on grass? We will offer plans for our well-designed range-house “tractor” which offers security from hawks, owls and four-footed varmints, and demonstrate their use on pasture.

Each year Many Hands Organic Farm raises 500 or so birds in these “tractors” on pasture. Two people feed and water the animals and move their range houses by hand 5 days per week to fresh grass.

Brooding, chick and poult care, and organic feed management will also be discussed and demonstrated.

What is that you're spraying? 🚿

All good things, of course! 👍 Macro and trace minerals, natural sea products, and biological inoculants from our friends at Aea Regenerative Agriculture ! 🌊🦠🌱

In the video, Julie speaks a bit about our foliar fertility program that provides the superior taste for our vegetables and fruits.

✨️CSA Highlight of the Week!✨️

Radishes! 🫜🥗

Last week we started some radishes in the blue house right where the tomatoes will be transplanted in 2 weeks or so. And we have another bed out in the south field. These little gems do wonders for our digestive system and will be a welcome addition to your share throughout the season.

Summer produce deliveries begin the week of June 1st. Sign up for your share today! www.mhof.net

For years now, getting my weekly CSA share has felt a little like Christmas.

I open the bag, see what the earth offered that week, and my mind begins creating meals—simple, seasonal, nourishing. Over time, this one practice has changed so much for me… not just how I cook, but how I feel.

My digestion improved.
I naturally moved away from processed foods.
Cooking became intuitive instead of overwhelming.
And I began to truly understand what it means to eat with the seasons.

This new blog is a reflection of that journey—why I continue to join a CSA every year, how it’s supported my health, and how you can begin to work with seasonal food in a way that feels simple and doable.

If you’ve ever been curious about eating more locally or joining a CSA, this might be your moment 🌿
