Welcome to Episode 2 of Wine Word Wednesday 🍷✨

Today’s wine word is:

DRY 🥂

One of the most misunderstood wine terms.

When sommeliers say a wine is “dry,” it doesn’t mean the wine literally feels dry… it simply means the wine has little to no residual sugar.

So if you’ve ever said:
“I don’t like sweet wine”
— chances are, you probably prefer dry wines 😉

Dry wines can still be fruity, smooth, bold, or refreshing… they just aren’t sugary.

And honestly, I think “dry” is a good reminder in life too:
not everything sweet is balanced 🍇✨

I’m loving making this little series to make wine feel less intimidating and more fun for everyone.

Let me know if you’re enjoying Wine Word Wednesday, and Episode 3 is coming next Wednesday 😉🍷

When I write, I’m most interested in storytelling that translates life lessons through the ordinary things we encounter every day. These elements become mirrors for the human experience. That’s why I’m absolutely hooked on the recent commencement speech by Eric Church at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He spoke about life through the lens of music by comparing the strings of a guitar to the different parts of our lives, and the importance of tuning them with care.

It was a remarkable speech filled with genuine wisdom, and a sweet reminder that sometimes the simplest metaphors say the most about what it means to be human.

Do yourself a favor and watch it. (I’ll add it in today’s stories.)You be glad you did.

When you’re writing a book, the editing team teaches you very quickly that you can’t be married to your words. Easier said than done . Still… if you know you just know which sentence is going to make the Final Cut. Think this line will end up being a reader favorite.

In the first chapter, I dive into the climate of a vineyard and the climate of our own lives. Because if we’re anything like grapevines, it’s essential we’re planted in an environment that favors our growth.
