We are saddened to hear about the loss of one of our most iconic farmers whose name carries history, family, and roots that run deep through East Texas and the Dallas Farmers Market.

His legacy isn’t just written in records or remembered in passing, it lives on in the generations he helped shape and the stories that continue to be told.

From small-town beginnings to a life that clearly touched so many, J.T. Lemley represents something rare today: strength, resilience, and a commitment to his local community. His presence is still felt at the market today, especially when the east Texas tomatoes start rolling in.
