With our normal processor moving to another profession, we are considering sending our homebred, pasture raised Berkshire pork to a USDA processor - this would allow us to sell packaged cuts of meat, delivered to you or picked up at our farm, instead of just whole/half shares. One thing we've learned over the past couple of years is that you can do everything perfectly but still not end up with the perfect outcome. Momma wound up with an infection after she had her huge litter. We think it had something to do with the scattered downpours that came through during her labor and right after she had the babies. We woke up to find a few gone overnight a couple days after, and then realized she was running a fever. We rushed her to the vet and are so relieved to report that she is completely fine now, but unfortunately, we did lose several of our babies. We're thankful that these 5 CHONKY babies are super strong and have been back with momma for almost a full week now! Pan feeding piglets around the clock is exhausting, and a few days of that was enough for a lifetime!
