As we near winter, here comes more posts about this season’s bounty that hasn’t been posted yet, and what’s yet to come -

So MUCH planting, so much learning, and SO much seeds 🌱 organizing these seeds this afternoon (especially the saved ones) is another reminder of how far I’ve come in this growing journey!

The high tunnel is standing tall, the front flower rows got their experimental debut, and the soil’s ‘secret recipe’ is finally coming together over here!

This season was a whirlwind of growth (literally), and we’re just scratching the surface of what’s to come. 🌸 So much beauty ahead! 💞

First time growing dahlias! These beauties where DIFFICULT for our specific soil but worth the wait for the outcome 🌸

I have a lot of mixed feelings about these, a love hate relationship right now - and unsure if I will grow them again. But, I’m enjoying their beauty!

What a beautiful season it’s been! I’ve been so immersed in the moment (and in the soil) that I’ve barely posted at all—fully unplugged and loving it. I’m excited to share some of the highlights! 🌱

This weekend, Pauline Aka mom (who you’ll hear more and more about), Kate Sexton, and I spent two blissful hours harvesting sweet potatoes—mostly by hand.

Sweet potatoes are Pauline’s passion project, something she’s been experimenting with for a few years now.

This year, she nailed the timing on half, and we were blessed with an abundant harvest, including a few massive potatoes! 🥔

Timing is everything when it comes to sweet potatoes—some were planted a month apart just to test it out, and it made all the difference. 🤯

We managed to harvest just before the first frost, which is crucial because sweet potatoes left out in the frost almost always rot.

After harvesting, we’re “curing” them in a controlled environment (Pauline’s garage this time). Over the next two weeks, the sweet potatoes will sweeten up and they will harden, making them ready to enjoy.

This whole process is something new we’re learning together, with Pauline leading the way, and far more fluent in the language of sweet potatoes.

I’m excited to be part of this and can’t wait to see how next season goes—hopefully with an even earlier start for the potato slips and drying them in the high tunnel next season. Here’s to sweet moments, sweet harvests, and sweet family & friends! 💛

🌼 SEED SAVING FLOWERS! ✨🌼

Check out this bounty of flower seeds I hand-harvested in just 10 minutes! 😎🙌

Some folks like to buy *new* seeds every year, aiming for that guaranteed same genetics. I get it, and everyone has their preference…

But honestly, I’m all about the surprises nature throws my way! Every year brings new colors, unique combos, and a whole lot of fun in the field. 🌸

Not only does seed saving make me feel like a gardening superhero (no waste here!), but it lets me sprinkle beauty all over our acres while still treating myself to a few new seed varieties each year.

As a side note; I will make sure to leave at least half for the wildlife supplemental food supply during winter 🐦🌾

But back to saving the seeds— why settle for the same old when nature’s got surprises up her sleeve? 😉💚

We have 1 “banana spider” that’s been here almost all season! 🕷 🍌

Fun Facts:✨

Banana Spiders are typically non-aggressive and will only bite if provoked. 💛 They’re not deadly to humans. While they do possess venom, it’s not potent enough to be life-threatening to humans. Their bite might cause mild symptoms like pain, redness, or swelling, but severe reactions are rare and usually occur only in people with specific allergies.

💚 They’re eco-friendly pest controllers: They help control insect populations. Feeding on a wide variety of insects, including mosquitoes, flies, and beetles, helping to naturally reduce pests in their environment.

My summers are now filled with ENDLESS bouquets and having family & friends come get a peak and enjoy our first-year, new flower field up front! Still feels UNREAL! 🥴💐

I can genuinely say I’ve collected WAY more memories than photos this season…. But I have yet to post a handful of stunners! 📸

Ft. Kate creating her own beautiful little bunch of sunny bouquets a few days ago 💕🌻 (if you know me, you know I’m extremely picky about who gets to cut the sunnies right now) she’s just clearly a little bit favored and very special hehe 🤷‍♀️😉❤️

She’s a special bouquet with a mix of really everything. SUPER fragrant — Basil + Mint 🌱 ✨ chef’s kiss ✨

This is genuinely one of my favorite things ever, the creative freedom of getting to piece these beauties together 🥹 —

No deadline, no expectations… Just me, the flowers, and my little happy brain doing whatever feels “right”. It makes me feel like a little tiny girl, again.

I still have to pinch myself that it’s true I have a full on flower field… That I have **yet** to turn into a legitimate business… I’m really soaking it all in, first 💖

Good things take time.

On this specifically, I will admit… I’m taking a little bit longer to myself to enjoy and carefully plan more, before I offer it to the world 😉
