A few weeks ago, Tony and his Uncle, John, discovered that there’s a mulberry tree by John’s pond on the main farm. That was also the day Tony realized we have a mulberry tree on our property too. 🤦‍♀️🤣

For years, the tree next to the dog kennel has dropped berries, but I always thought the little growth closer to the ground was a mulberry bush. Apparently, it was the same tree all along!

This year, that tree absolutely exploded with berries. They are covering the ground, and the birds are loving every minute of it.

The funniest part? Tony is pretty surprised that it’s taken him 18 years of living here to figure out we had a mulberry tree in our own backyard. Better late than never, right? 🌳🫐😂

Anyone else ever “discover” something on their property that had been there the whole time?

Some of you may know that besides Lecher Farms, we also own a photo booth business. Today, while setting up for a family reunion, I couldn’t help but stop and admire this tractor all hooked up and ready to pull a family hayride.

There’s just something about seeing generations come together, whether it’s around a family table, on a hayride, or in front of a camera making memories.

As much as I love capturing special moments through our photo booth, seeing a tractor at the center of a family gathering definitely felt a little like home. 🚜❤️

Anyone else think every family reunion should include a tractor ride? We have one every time!

You know you’re a flower farmer when… 🌸✈️

…you’re on a work trip in Iowa and can’t walk past spent blooms without deadheading them.

What started as a quick cleanup turned into me carrying flower heads around from the networking event to the hotel in my pocket and eventually bringing them home in a coffee cup. 😂

Most people come home from a conference with business cards and brochures. I came home with flower seeds and deadheaded blooms.

I guess when flowers are part of your everyday life, you never really stop noticing them—no matter where you are.

Anyone else bring home unusual souvenirs from their travels? 🌼

While moving the contents from our old wooden raised planter boxes into the new metal ones, we found a surprise hiding in the soil. 🥕😊

This cute little carrot may not win any awards for size, but it definitely won for personality!

The old wooden planter boxes have served us well over the years, but time and weather finally caught up with them. As we tear them down and start fresh with the new metal beds, it’s fun to uncover little reminders of what they’ve helped us grow.

Here’s to new garden beds, another growing season, and seeing what surprises pop up along the way! 🌱☀️

I spent the last few days in Iowa for a work conference, and it’s amazing what can change in just a short amount of time.

Before I left, the main garden had just been planted a bit after ours and many of the flowers were starting to bloom. Coming home today, everything seems a little taller, a little fuller, and a lot greener. It’s a good reminder that growth happens whether you’re watching it every day or not.

While I was away, Tony kept things going at home watering flowers, tending the garden, and making sure everything had what it needed through the heat. Farming doesn’t stop when one of us is gone, and I’m thankful for all the work he put in while I was away.

Now it’s time to catch up on farm chores and enjoy seeing the progress that’s been made. We can’t wait to see what the next few weeks bring!
