We had a drone survey done a few weeks ago to see where our wildlife is spending time and how many deer, etc per acre we had. The report we got made it easy to see which pastures didn’t have much of a wildlife presence. Some had a whole lot and some pastures had zero or very few.
When I see low wildlife density, to me that indicates that a particular area could use some “disruption”. A disruption can be a lot of different things but in this instance we’re planning on opening up some dense brushy areas using our goats at 20 to 30,000 lbs per acre in short duration (1-2 day) grazing periods.
So this morning we moved all of the goats and their water and shelters over to one of those pastures and we’re going to let them work their magic for a month or so. While they are there, they will thin out the brush by browsing and breaking limbs off and spread some natural fertilizer at the same time. Get’er done girls!

Can’t sneak by the girls, as soon as they hear the mule they are coming to find me. Hairy had a sticker in his foot but it didn’t slow him down much, he wanted his Milkbone.
