God’s creation never ceases to amaze us.
This stunning peacock graces our homestead with his presence, and every time we catch a glimpse of those vibrant feathers, we’re reminded of the beauty and creativity of our Creator.

In the middle of chores, feeding animals, and working the land, it’s easy to get caught up in the to-do list. But then God sends a little reminder, like this beautiful bird, to lift our eyes and our hearts.

Not everything on the homestead has to be practical. Sometimes, the Lord gives us beauty simply for joy. And for that, we are thankful.

1 Year into Rabbitry: What We’ve Learned So Far

When we brought home our first rabbits, I thought I was just adding a quiet little livestock project to the homestead. A year later, rabbitry has taught us more than I ever imagined—not just about breeding and meat production, but about patience, observation, and stewardship.

Rabbits are fast learners, and we had to become fast learners as well. We’ve learned how to tell when a doe is nesting (even when she’s faking it), how to time breedings for the best success, and how to cull for health and productivity. We’ve celebrated healthy litters and learned hard lessons from losses.

There’s a rhythm now: checking trays, tracking growth, planning breedings around the weather and feed supply. And every season teaches something new. We’re still dialing in what works for our rabbits and our goals.

Rabbitry isn’t glamorous, but it’s quietly satisfying. It puts food in the freezer, fertilizer in the garden, and purpose into our daily chores. If you’ve been thinking about adding rabbits to your homestead, know this: it’s work—but it’s good work. And if you’re just getting started, hang in there. Year two is where it really starts to click.
