Their famous pimento cheese in a perfectly golden wonton with fig pepper jelly gastrique + jalapeño chow chow started the night off strong. We also had house made chips cooked to crispy perfection, tossed in their blackening seasoning which is dangerously good. Every single course exceeded expectations and just kept getting better. Even the cocktails were strong in the best way 🍸🔥
stole the show with two courses, especially that tender bavette with andouille butter 🥩🔥 the GLT on sourdough, then stacked with guanciale, fried leeks, heirloom tomatoes, and fresh herb aioli. That GLT was easily the best bite of the night.
And of course… not one but TWO desserts to finish 🍰 Their pastry chef is a true genius.
If Elsie’s isn’t already in your Baton Rouge rotation, consider this your sign 👀 Even Guy Fieri stopped through for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives… so yeah, it’s a big deal.
Huge thank you to the team at Elsie's for such a memorable night. Getting to share the evening with the chefs’ family; including Elsie’s granddaughter herself (which is also the chef/owners MOM!) which made it even more special. So much love under one roof, and it shows in every bite ❤️
I love this food community in Baton Rouge. Go support local this summer- they need it during the slow months.
