Algae thrives in a pond because deposited organics and nutrients are only partially degraded on the pond's bottom. The remainder of the nutrients and organics slowly rise into the water column, becoming the materials that give life to the algae. Once algae is present, it is difficult to eliminate. Failure to address this algal growth can negatively impact the health and diversity of the aquatic community, create odors and diminish aesthetics. Harsh metal additions (CUSO4) and other chemical herbicides provide only a partial solution, allowing algae to repopulate after a short recovery period.

The Water OX offers a permanent solution
The Water OX saturates a pond with microscopic oxygen bubbles that have no buoyancy. The elimination of the bubble rise rate coupled with their biologically available size allows the biological community at the bottom of a pond to switch from sluggish anaerobic bacteria to a more beneficial aerobic bacterial population. This switch in population allows for a complete digestion of the organics and nutrients, which effectively starves and permanently eliminates the algae.

This water irrigation pond has an average depth of 4 ft. and its surface area is 1/2 an acre. It is the healthiest it has ever been, and the course's turf has reached its highest level of play in the history of the course.
