This farming venture began as an attempt for our family to get away from industrialized meat products and the unknowns of the concentrated animal feeding operations. A few months ago our family decided to raise, and butcher, our own meat chickens. Friends, family, and folks in our community began asking questions about what we were doing. As we explained our ambitions, and the reasoning for them,
a few asked if we could raise more chickens so they could buy a few. Within a couple of days we had orders that totaled over 100, and shortly stopped accepting orders due to lack of infrastructure......So here we are! Our goal is to provided people in the surrounding area with a source for a more natural poultry product. Grain fed, free range poultry and eggs! We offer chickens, ducks, and turkeys(pre-order in may) as of now, but hope to include grain fed, pasture raised pork in the future.
We butchered one of our F1 Akaushi beef last week. It took over 30 months to produce this quality, 8 months being on feed. This beef is known for quality, not feed conversion. She was 850lbs on the rail with about 540lb yield to the freezer. I'm super happy with the results! We have a few feeders here, steers and heifers, if someone wants to try their hand at finishing their own beef.

Processed a few chickens today. These are the first chickens that we've raised since moving to this new farm.

Yesterday was fun, but hopefully this is the last year that we skin our beef in the driveway and bum space in our neighbors cooler. Big plans for the future! Please stay tuned!
Poured the slab for the kill area and cooler a couple weeks back! This butcher shop is being built according to state specs so that we can get a "custom exemption". We will be able to sell our beef and pork on the hoof , then kill, process, and vacuum seal it for our customers!

Are you wanting to improve the quality of your herd? We have 3 akaushi cross bull calves for sale. Also, we have a few akaushi feeder calves for sale and we will feed the calf out to butcher weight for those who don't have the option of feeding it themselves. This is the other black calf born today. His mother is half Angus, so this should be a quality beef calf.
2 calves born today! This calf is 3/4 "wagyu". His mother is 1/2 Japanese Black. We have 5 of these heifers and i hope they all are able to raise their calves.
The Akaushi beef has arrived! 3 calves in the last 3 days. We are hoping to market these calves directly to our customers. Stay tuned!

Selected our Akaushi bull today at HeartBrand Beef - Certified Akaushi Beef HeartBrand Ranch. Jojo and his staff were very patient and helpful. Me and Evan have decided to name him "Fluffy el Toro". You know, an english/spanish name for a Japanese bull is fitting here on the farm....lol

Hurricane Harvey brought us calves. Three of these babies were born during the storm. All of them are doing well. 😊

Today's egg gathering. We're averaging about 3 dozen eggs a day, some days we get 4 dozen. We hope y'all are ready for some eggs. Please bring egg cartons if you have any.
We are going to feed the "elite" grower to this batch of chicks that we are moving from the brooder next week. This feed has Fertrell, all natural, vitamins and probiotics added. Hoping for great results!

This seabright hen comes to the back porch every morning and lays her egg in the egg gathering box. Now to train the other 80 hens to do the same. ..lol
