Let’s talk about pork. I know it’s not everybody’s forte, but please do not yuck someone else’s yum.
We raise Kunekune/Berkshire cross pig for meat. I predominantly take care of the farm operation, and they are a docile mix that I can handle and move easily on my own. Although they may be a bit slower growers, their meat is tender and red like a steak.
The pigs are trained on an electric fence so that they can be moved weekly into new grazing areas. We do not use antibiotics or any other chemicals and they are naturally dewormed using black walnuts, pumpkins, and DE. Pigs DO require protein as they cannot make their own like goats and cows. We use a non GMO protein feed once a day.
They also receive belly rubs and daily petting and I’m convinced that makes a better quality pork. 😉
