🥃 Bourbon Heritage Month — Day 9

Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch 2024

This is one of those releases I hunt down every year. Funny enough, I had to travel all the way to England to secure this 2024 release.

Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2025

Over the years, Maker’s Mark has quietly become a sleeper pick for me. The distillery is absolutely beautiful, I love their focus on regenerative agriculture and sustainability, and most importantly, the bourbon is pretty damn fantastic too.

🥃 Bourbon Heritage Month - Day 7

Old Forester President’s Choice Bourbon

I’m a little conflicted about these releases these days. Back in the day, the age statements tended to be higher, which made the price easier to justify. With the more recent releases coming in around 10 years or less, that $225 price tag is getting harder to swallow.

That being said, I’ll give credit where it’s due—the juice is pretty damn good.

The debate over value can wait, though. For now, I’m just going to enjoy this pour on Labor Day Monday.

Willett 12 Year Purple Top — Liquor Junction Pick

The mythical Willett Purple Tops. I’ve always struggled to pull the trigger on these because of the price, but this Liquor Junction pick opened my eyes to the world of Willett.

At 12 years old and a massive 138.4 proof, this one is an absolute banger—bold, complex, and packed with flavor. Now I am on the hunt for the next one!

🥃 Bourbon Heritage Month - Day 5

Elijah Craig 15 Year

Ohio State is about to start 1-0 so you know I had to celebrate with a little scarlet this afternoon.

From the reviews I’ve seen, this bottle is showing up on a lot of people’s top-five bourbons of the year, and I can see why. I’m a big fan of this one and can’t wait to do an end-of-the-year blind with my top ten to see where it ultimately lands.

🥃 Bourbon Heritage Month — Day 4

Seelbach’s Private Reserve 9 Year

Over the last five years, Seelbach’s has become one of my go-to online retailers for tracking down bottles I’ve been hunting for. But what really sets them apart is their own Private Reserve collection.

They’ve released some absolute bangers over the years, and this 9-year release from 2023 is definitely one of them.

🥃 Bourbon Heritage Month - Day 3

Russell’s Reserve 13 Year — Batch 6

A little late with tonight’s post, but coming out swinging with RR13 Batch 6. While it doesn’t quite reach the level of Batches 1 and 2 for me, I think the higher proof puts Batch 6 firmly in third place among the RR13 batches I’ve had.

Now, I haven’t had the 45th Anniversary release yet and I have heard great things about the new batch, so that ranking might change. But for now, this is a great pour.

🥃 Bourbon Heritage Month - Day 2

Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak - selected by Black Bourbon Run

At this point, BBR picks are some of the best out there, and this Superfreak from Preservation is no different. It was easily one of my top five bourbons of last year.

Bourbon Heritage Month 🥃

Day 1: Dark Arts Straight Bourbon Wh***ey — selected by Taste Select Repeat

I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from Dark Arts, yet somehow I only have two bottles from them in my collection. That needs to change ASAP.
