Jewel has always been more than one of the animals on our farm. She’s family to us, and she’s become part of the lives of so many people in our community, too.

Running a small farm is expensive. Our animals bring joy to families at events and help us create special memories, but what the farm brings in doesn’t cover more than their feed bills. We’re able and committed to covering Jewel’s hospital care. For those who have asked how they can help, we’ve added a donation link.

Our dazzling Jewel has been admitted to the hospital. They will be keeping her for about 3 days. Right now all we know is Colitis and slight hyperlipemia. Please keep her in her prayers.

What a wonderful night at the Bar X Community Harvest Festival! Todd and I loved bringing the petting zoo and sharing the evening with everyone.

Diva, Jack, Delilah, Belle, our goats, chickens, bunnies, and Buzz were all part of the fun—and it looked like everyone had a blast!

We’re so grateful to be invited back year after year. Thank you to the Bar X community for welcoming us and making it such a special evening. We can’t wait to come back!

Update. We syringe fed Jewel a slurry of food last night. Checked in her in the night. This morning she ATE ON HER OWN! E don’t know yet how she’s doing but….. eating on her own…. That’s a win. ❤️ 👏🏻

We will observed her today. She gets the day off.

Prince is also doing much much better. He was eating last night and much more active after the vet visit.

Brazoria Veterinary Clinic to the rescue. Prince and Jewel have both been “off” since Friday morning. Standing around. Not eating. Zoning off. Tonight they had a wedding venue. They were walking slow. Refusing snacks. Jewel had diarrhea. Price was shivering.

Dr Huebner met us at the clinic after hours to check them both out. Prince has a fever. Explains his shivering. Otherwise he seems ok. He got antibiotics and pain meds. Jewel is a mystery. No fever. Pink gums. Seems hydrated. But her CBC is really low. She has gut sounds. But she looks like she doesn’t feel well and she won’t eat. She got pain meds tonight and a steroid. We have to monitor her close for any change that gets worse. Please keep her in your prayers. She’s had such a hard year. I don’t understand why she keeps struggling. She’s so young.

Farmer Todd let the donkeys break the water line early this morning. I guess he thought he wasn’t busy enough this weekend.
