🐷 Nick Offerman reading Wendell Berry over farm footage. Somebody sent it to us and it's been in my head since.
The essay is "Think Little," written in 1969. Berry's point: nobody in Washington is coming to fix your dinner. The big trouble in the world traces back to how we live small, and so does the repair. 🌱
That lands different when you're a family operation, like ours. The pigs don't care what kind of week anybody's having. They get fed at the same hour regardless, and somebody in this family is always the one out there doing it. ❄️
Nobody gets rich raising Meishans. They grow slow. Pecans, acorns, non-GMO fermented feed, and all the time in the world. 🌰 You do it because a pig raised right tastes like something, and because somebody looked at this patch of Matagorda County and decided it was worth keeping.
Every pound that leaves here has a name and an address behind it. That's the whole idea. 🚜🤠
▶️ It's just 2 minutes, 46 seconds, go watch it. Then go find a farmer you can shake hands with. 🥓
