As I sat on the front deck reading some history book outlining how things were and how they will be or should be. Reflection can be the mother of reaction or revelation. You ultimately choose which it is. So as I sit waiting to catch a pair of rubbie throats quarreling over the nectar (non colored made of natural ingredients) LOL.
A sparrow flies by lands next to my heirloom tomato plants that only have a few fruit to be used for seeds. So naturally I am a little protective. This beautiful little sparrow lands on the fence boguarding my tomatoes, it stares intentionally at the plants tilting its head side to side. Spying the prize...I defensively turn to shoo it away, again I with book in one hand and coffee ("my precious" said in a raspy gruff voice in my head) the other. I flail my arms saying " No! GET! DON'T YOU DARE! Mind you my children sleep not twenty feet from the the deck. The plants are just to the right of their bedroom window. With that in mind my commanding voice is more like that of a chattering mouse. Still to no avail the sparrow only looks at me mockingly. Collecting myself and the remnants of what was left of my coffee, I begin to search for a projectile to hurl in the direction of this beast that looks to pillage spoils of my toil and labor. Not really it was just looking for food to provide probably for its young. In my thoughts, this ravenous marauder was out for a malicious attack on me personally. Reflection or Revelation! The past has taught us one thing and how we respond is our choice. The sparrow was never after my tomatoes it was looking to help itself to the pests that have prolifically multiplied in my pasture the dreaded grasshoppers. They have devoured our fields and are a huge problem. This revelation only took place after I responded to a past conclusion that the sparrow was the enemy and I was the defender. The truth is I was irrelevant in this case; the beautifully drab earth toned sparrow was the heroine of the story. God does what we can not, when we fail He make a way. We may not see that due to our focus. The focus of reaction or revelation. Our past will dictate our future when we are blinded by it, unable to allow the future to be handled by the Creator.
