Freshly transplanted tomatoes in the high tunnel today, and suddenly summer feels a little closer. We wait until the frost risk is nearly gone before these babies go in — the tunnel helps, but it’s not full protection, and our data keeps us honest even through a warm spring like this. It might look conservative, but around here a surprise frost can undo months of work in one night.

For now, these little plants will get hoops and row cover to stay cozy through the cool spring nights. Soon enough they’ll be standing tall in their cages, growing big and bearing all the beautiful fruit for our wonderful CSA members this season 🍅 🌿✨

Heart is full 💚❤️💛 and the garden is filling up 🌱🌱🌱 and looking so good!

Photo dump of the first two weeks with our crew, and of the magic that happens when wonderful humans pour themselves into a garden. These amazing people show up, work so hard, bring the laughs, help us plant all the things, and make this little family farm feel like a community 🥰

We’ve been planting like crazy and the rows are bursting with life. We’re so close to having food ready, and we’ll be back at the Durango Farmers Market in our regular spot starting 5/23 with salad mix 🥗 and the first carrots of the season 🥕🥕🥕

Feeling endlessly grateful for this incredible crew, community, and this land on which we’re growing.

Durango Farmers Market season starts this Saturday! We’ll join in a couple of weeks when our produce is ready 🥕, but there will be plenty of great local vendors on Main to kick things off. See you shopping there tomorrow, and see you from our booth starting 5/23!

Opening Day is taking over Main this Saturday!

We’re kicking off the entire 2026 season right in the heart of downtown. The 900 to 1100 blocks filled with farmers, food, music, and a whole lot of energy. It’s our first 2nd Saturday and we’re going big.

Let Them Cook! runs 9 to 12 on the 1100 block in front of 11th Street Station. Local chefs and student sous chefs go head to head using market ingredients. It’s fast, fun, and worth showing up for.

is our beer garden. Grab a Ska beer or a farmers market Bloody Mary and know a portion goes right back to supporting DFM.

Planting season is in full swing out here at Homegrown Farm!

This week, we transplanted kohlrabi and green onions out into the field, while we got the cucumbers going in the greenhouse. And lots of seeding - we actually do way more direct seeding of crops than we do transplanting, but it doesn't look as good on film, so here's a photo of our seeder ✨ And more transplants are growing in the greenhouse and getting ready 🌱

And of course, it all gets covered up to protect from the wind and cold ❄️ so once you're done there's nothing much to look at, just a bunch of dirty white row cover. But soon!!

While we’re just starting to plant outside, things are already taking off in the high tunnels 🌱 carrots and weeds both.

Today was our first hoeing of the season, knocking back the competition so these baby carrots can thrive right from the start. As we worked down the rows, we kept marveling at how gorgeous the soil is in here, rich, soft, and absolutely alive 🪱

Mike has cared for this space so thoughtfully, and it shows. We ran two successions of cover crop since the last production cycle — one in the heat of summer and another through fall into early winter — and all that growth was turned right back into the beds to feed the soil. The result is this deep, healthy richness that makes you want to sink your hands right in. With soil like this, we know these carrots are going to be so sweet and so good 🥕🥕

Grateful for dirty hands, healthy soil and a strong community. Wishing for more moisture and some colder weather before the season really begins. But either way, here we go!
