It’s been a dream for years... and it’s finally happening. ❤️

As we begin getting the farm ready for our first wedding, I keep thinking about how many pieces of our story have somehow found their way to our Michigan farm.

This photo was taken in Illinois of my son and now daughter-in-law, just down the road from our schoolhouse home around an 1800s barn.

I loved that old barn and captured family photos there over the years around both sets of these beautiful old doors. My niece even had some of her senior photos taken there. (Photos by Stephanie Nelson)❤️ I had no idea then how meaningful they would eventually become to us.

Shortly after these photos were taken, the barn was destroyed by dueracheo winds . We were fortunate enough to salvage the entry doors to the barn as well as a set of round doors that were in the debris.

Today, both sets of doors are here at our Michigan farmhouse. 🏠 I love that we were able to bring a little piece of our Illinois story with us to Michigan. And now, all these years later, they’re becoming part of another dream as we prepare the farm for its first wedding.

Sometimes the pieces of the dream are being collected long before you even realize where they’re going to lead you. ❤️

Our very first wedding is officially in progress, and suddenly the vision I’ve carried in my head is becoming real. 🥳🎉

Flowers are being cut and dried, the Secret Garden is getting a little love, and those incredible 1800s barn doors are being prepared for their first couple to say “I do”. Every little detail is starting to tell a story and I have a feeling it’s going to be pretty magical. ✨
