The Reaves Family has been in the seafood business since 1970 when Laten Reaves started Reaves Brother’s Seafood in Holden Beach, North Carolina. Since then, we have been a part of every aspect of the seafood business. In 1980, Laten and Alice opened their first restaurant, Reaves Fish Camp. Over the years, the Reaves Family has owned 5 restaurants. Laten and Alice have passed along their lo

ve of the seafood industry to the next generation; Craig & Cameron. You will see Laten in the market when he’s not out on one of the family shrimp trawlers. After eight years of battling cancer, Alice stays close to home enjoying retirement and taking care of their grandchildren & great grandchildren. Today she is cancer free. In 1993, Craig and Jana started C.J. Seafood which is a wholesale business, delivering seafood to Myrtle Beach. Over the past 20 years, they’ve continued to have a thriving wholesale business. Delivering fresh seafood all over the state of SC and have grown into two retail locations: Sea Eagle Market & Good Eats (located at 2149 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC) and C.J. Seafood Express (located at 1421 Ribaut Rd in Port Royal, SC) As of Feb. 2016, The Reaves have purchased Dopson’s Seafood on St Helena Island. This will be working waterfront for boats to unload and for retail space. Craig and Jana’s children, Melena and C.J. are very involved in the day to day business operations. Melena works in the office handling accounts receivable & coordinating catering events. She is also our team captain for our Smokin’ Sea Eagle Competition BBQ Cook Team. and his wife Kim are in charge of the shrimp & shellfish processing at the Village Creek location, and are just all around helpers throughout the business. Although, Craig & Jana’s youngest children, Molleigh & Samuel are young but have made their presence known in the family business. When they are not at school or with GaGa they are greeting customers or helping daddy. In addition we have been blessed to have a couple of other young people in our lives. Brandon Wells came into our lives when he was just 13 and now he runs his own shrimp trawler “Kensley Grace”. Michael Evans has been a part of our family off and on since he was 4. He is now at a graduate of West Point USMA and an active service member. However, when Michael is home, he’s helping at the market, working on one of the trawlers, or in the river oystering. Craig’s brother, Cameron, is owner operator of one of the family shrimp trawlers, F/V Palmetto Pride. When he’s not out fishing, he’s helping around the market or with catering events. Craig’s sister, Becky Woods, works as a dental hygienist for a local Beaufort dentist. She loves getting on the water with her husband, children and family any chance she can.
