We experimented with tulips this year! I wanted to make sure I could grow them before offering them in a you-pick— what do you think…. You-pick tulips next spring??

Many of the flowers in the you-pick will be planted directly in the garden after the risk of frost has passed in mid-May, but there are a few that need a little more time. I don’t have a greenhouse or the space to start seeds indoors so I use the winter sowing method— it’s the lazy way and I love it!

I hope to have a BUNCH of kiddos out picking flowers in just a few months! All 6 of our children enjoyed picking and arranging flowers last summer. They picked a whole bunch and brought a bouquet to each of their teachers on the first day of school. I wasn’t taking pictures and video like I should have been so the quality of the content here will be lacking for awhile, but enjoy this super candid video of my daughter, Monroe, making a bouquet last summer. She learned so many of the flower names and enjoyed telling me which ones she was adding to the bouquet! She is 4 and my sidekick in the garden!

Last summer we brought most of our 🌸 flowers 🌸to a few assisted living centers for bouquet arranging 💐 — It was THE MOST FUN! Everyone came down to the event room with a vase they already had and arranged a bouquet. Many of the ladies there had gardened for years before they moved in and it was so fun to learn from them and see their creations. I’m looking forward to doing that again this summer!

November was the very beginning. We have a ton of work ahead of us this spring and I’m honestly terrified we will have some insane weather and nothing will grow, but we are going to try! Keep your expectations low, my flower friends, and hopefully we will exceed them!
