Nielsen Boer Goats Nielsen Boer Goats located in Tillamook County Oregon started as a small 4-H / FFA Meat Goat project for our daughter.

Once we all realized how much we enjoyed it as a family it started to grow.

What a great group of market goats at all weight classes today. These kids really brought some awesome animals this year and you can see the work they’ve put into them. In the heavy weight class alone, 5 of the 7 goats were Nielsen Boer Goats bred and sired by our previous buck, 4TFM Dirty Richard. It’s so cool to see the animals your program produces and watch them finish out in the ring with the 4-H and FFA kids after all of their work they put in.

I hope each and every kid is having fun and taking it all in. It goes by so quickly and the skills they learn here will carry over in life with them. I love seeing the kids work together and help each other out all week at fair.

It’s that time of year again 😊 Prep Time for fair …. Getting the does cleaned up and clipped up. Maddie’s Senior year and last County Fair. She has quite the lineup this year with her herd. Still quite a bit to get done but we still have a little time 😜

Goats first, and now tumblers to hold a beverage while we discuss goats 🤯🤷🏻‍♀️😁 Heck Yeah!!

P.S. Did you know that they make tumblers with Bluetooth speakers attached 😳🤔 so you can listen to music while you have a cold (or hot) drink and discuss goats 😜

It’s getting close to crunch time for Fair and that means all hands on deck when you’re prepping the herd for the show ring. Tonight was a Family Affair getting the girls and boys out for a walk.

Maddie and I were able to go visit one of the local 4-H youngsters this morning to give her some pointers and assistance with showing and clipping her breeding doe for fair.

Being in a smaller rural area, we knew the family but didn’t really know them. But we were still very willing to help out 😊 one of things that we really hope is that when kids come into fair with a project, that they are set up to have a successful experience and they will want to come back and do it again. We love seeing kids succeed ❤️

When parents or kids reach out looking for any help or tips we always try to make it a point to help out if we can. We don’t care if they are part of our 4-H club or not 😊 We never claim to know it all, but will always help you find the answer or figure it out.

Because:
#1 We needed A LOT of help when Maddie started showing goats and we were able to find some amazing people that stepped up. And a lot of those people are still our go-to goat friends 😁
#2 That’s part of being a 4-H Leader and for Maddie being a 4-H youth herself. It’s what you’re supposed to do. How to people learn without asking questions?? 🤷🏻‍♀️
#3 Watching those younger kids come into fair with even just a tad more confidence is awesome. And when they see Maddie and know they can come ask her for help at fair and seeing her go over their goats with them or give them pointers before they enter the show ring really makes me feel good 😊 ❤️

This doe is long bodied and thick everywhere. She has produced some of our nicest kids we have had. Her sire’s pedigree is loaded with Ennoblements. First picture is when she was younger and being shown. She does have ABGA show points. The other pictures are just 2 weeks after weaning her twins off her. She kids with ease and no assistance. Birthdate 3/25/23

Beautiful day for the goats to play outside and get some one on one time. A little work on the stand and more lessons in leading.
