🌻 Pointer Run Farm — May, June & July Photo Dump! 🐓🐾🌱
I’m SO bad about keeping up with farm updates, so here’s a little May–June–July photo dump of what we’ve been up to around Pointer Run Farm. ❤️ It’s been busy, a little chaotic, and a whole lot of fun!
🐓 Around the Farm
The chickens and quail are officially all grown up and laying more eggs than we know what to do with! 🥚 If anyone needs fresh eggs, message me anytime!
We’ve also learned that the chickens are excellent little garden-cleanup crews. Watermelon, berries, overgrown veggies, fallen produce… they’re happy to help with ALL of it. 😂
The ducks, on the other hand, have decided they do not appreciate Bristol sharing their pool. So Bristol got her very own pool on the back deck, where one of her favorite activities is fishing golf balls off the bottom. Because apparently that’s what farm dogs do. 🤦♀️😂
🐐 Back in May we visited Gilmanor Spring Trade Day, and I’m still not sure how I managed to leave without bringing home a goat. 💔 Seriously… HOW CUTE ARE THEY?! My self-control deserves some recognition.
🐾 Visitors — Wanted & Unwanted
Hattie, Mom and Dad’s Australian Shepherd, came to stay with us for a couple of weeks. She loves farm life, and our pups always enjoy having an extra member in their pack.
We also had a few much larger visitors. 🐻 A couple of bears stopped by in May, and one was especially fond of my bird feeder. Apparently Pointer Run Farm offers an all-you-can-eat buffet.
And we’ve had a coyote hanging around. We’ve unfortunately had two chickens go missing, so neighbors, keep an extra eye on your animals! 🐓❤️
🚤 Summer Adventures
June brought some camping and boating at one of our absolute favorite escapes — Kerr Lake/Buggs Island Lake. Campfires, gorgeous sunsets, island beach days, boating and the pups along for the adventure… it really doesn’t get much better. 🌅🔥🚤🐾
Father’s Day also brought a family shooting competition, and our 16-year-old surprised ALL of us. Let’s just say… boys beware, we’ve got a sharpshooter on our hands! 😂🎯
🌱 Garden News — or Garden Chaos
The garden had a bit of a rough year. I didn’t exactly stay on top of the weeds, and Bailey continued developing her love of “gardening.” Apparently that means sneaking cucumbers, peppers and LOTS of green tomatoes. 🍅 I’m convinced she thinks the tomatoes are tennis balls.
Thankfully, the potatoes were safely underground and away from the dogs! 🥔 They did really well, and we even ended up with a fresh supply of purple potatoes, which was so much fun.
And the strawberries from Mount Olympus Farm were AMAZING. 🍓 Picking was easy, they were absolutely delicious, and I’ve got my fingers crossed that our own strawberry plants will eventually produce like that next year!
So that’s life lately at Pointer Run Farm — fresh eggs, spoiled dogs, garden thieves, bears stealing birdseed, coyotes causing trouble, chickens everywhere, and somehow… still no goat. 😂🐐
Wouldn’t trade it for anything. ❤️🌻🐾
