Tonight is one of those nights you question your life choices😢😩 We were so excited to have found such a wonderful new bull for this seasons breeding. We brought Cash all the way from the other side of the country, we’ve put many hours since he arrived working with Cash ensuring he would be a calm respectful bull that we could be out in the pasture with, tonight was the night we sorted the girls to their respective herds and introduced the various bulls.. all was going to plan Cash was doing all the right things, but one badly positioned pushing match with our herd matriarch and within less then a second I watch as she pushed his head to the dirt and broke his neck in the process and just like that he was gone… 😩😢 My heart broke, there was no one to blame it was just a freak accident, but now we’re are down a critical component to this seasons plan and have to bury our poor boy who we had already grown to love… I can’t say we haven’t talked about just packing it up and calling it, these moments are so hard on the soul… not sure if I should share this or not, but it is the reality of working with animals and nature and just unfathomable amount of random variables.. We head to bed with heavy hearts and new challenges to overcome this breeding season.. May you rest in peace Cash I’m so sorry😢

What’s not to love about this face Miss Tilly, momma Goldie really does make the most adorable calves, it’s getting harder and harder as our offspring improve year over year to not want to keep every single one of them 🤪😍 the struggle is real to maintain some level of self control🤣

It’s a boy!! Born yesterday afternoon, Oh man he’s pretty perfect, appears to be a shorty, but we will test to confirm, 78% highland Highpark with perfectly sharp black points… if your looking for a high % highland Highpark to put hair and points on your future offspring this could be the perfect future herd sire.. Sired by Teddy, momma is Ruthie…

Welcome to the world little man! Born late last night to first time momma Dolly who did absolutely amazing, super small leggy little dude slide out in minutes… not sure if the sire is Ranger or Marshall, but either way calving ease is confirmed … he’s got long legs and a tiny body so thinking he’s non Chondro, but will have to send off to confirm he’s so small overall … how come all the bred cows we sold had heifer calves but we seem to be getting mostly boys🤪🙄🤣 🤷🏻‍♀️

Test results are in for Arthur, he is indeed a shorty bull, Marshall is his sire and of course silver … when a boy comes out so perfectly proportioned that you have to test to confirm he’s a shorty it’s a good sign in my book.. he continues to impress me with how he’s developing, we go back and forth on whether we need to retain this boy or allow him to bless another farm with his perfect confirmation.. The struggle is real 🥰
