Painkeep Brewing

Painkeep Brewing Theoretical nanobrewery making crappy beers out of a dungeon Lucky for you, peasants.

Painkeep Brewing makes mediocre ales from deep in the heart of the Painkeep's dungeon, using questionable brewing techniques and even more questionable ingredients. Those unlucky enough to be involved are rewarded with a king's ransom of somewhat-drinkable beers, and the distinction of being part of a theoretical medieval homebrewing revolution.

Is this thing on? Is anyone still here? Quick update on status: We're brewing fairly consistently, at least monthly, and are trying to increase that. Yesterday (12/18) we kegged our new barleywine, called 'Raging Clue' - it's huge, heavily dry hopped, and was aged on bourbon soaked wood. It's got wood - get it? GET IT? Should be ready for christmas, but will go pretty quick - if anyone is wanting to get some, please reach out to us to arrange something.

Facebook is basically emailing me implying this page will be shut down if I don't use their boosting features, or something. if it does, oh well.

Made our Dunkelweizen today, went quite well. Calling it "Harvester of Sorrow" tentatively. Also kegged our dry hopped CDA and our "barrel aged" imperial stout.

Updates: Blown kegs of Remonbiru and our Galaxy SMaSH...sorry if you didn't get any. This weekend our Imperial Rye CDA will get it's dry hops and sit for another week before kegging, and this weekend our uberstout will get it's Bulleit Rye soaked oak chips for a couple weeks.

Remonbiru, our Japanese saison, is in the keg as of now, and will be ready to go this weekend. Finished EXTREMELY dry, as you can see, and finished around 7.9% ABV. A boatload of Sorachi Ace hops will make this unique and lemony.

Sugar Bombs keg officially blown. Hopefully you guys got some of it! Fastest keg I've ever blown - I drank more than a couple pints, but this still largely disappeared from friends.

We're fermenting! Beer came out to 1.051 OG, which was right on target for this particular beer, and for the style. Let's see how it ferments out.

Sugar Bombs was a mixed bag as far as success goes - we set out for it to be a barleywine, but did not boil it at high enough temp to end up with the end volume. It came out a tad weak pre-ferment, but finished WAY lower than target. 1.081 --> 1.010ish, or 9.3%. Dry, and the sample was staggeringly good. I'm irrationally excited about this one. ETA new years, but we'll be drinking it on xmas as well.

Our Milk Stout is ready to go, been kegged 2 weeks now and seems to be drinking just fine. Barleywine is in the fermenter - will get dry hops this weekend, then head to the keg a week later for some aging, hopefully done around new years.

10/19/2015

For the record, things seemed to go well enough yesterday - beer was right on the 1.064 estimated target OG, and is happily blasting away in the fermenter. We'll see if it turns out to be a decent beer - we've been more 'rubbish' than 'ambitious' with our last couple :)
