ðŸĨđ Cuteness overload!

Thursday night, as I was getting my own kids ready for bed, I check my cameras and there was Blackie, slipping into labor. With no extra hands around, I packed the kiddos up and we all headed to the barn - at bedtime. I got to Blackie just as she was pushing the first baby out. It didn't take her long to deliver and move on to the second one. An easy delivery with 2 large babies - a buck and doe.

The girls have named them, and I keep telling myself I don't need any more goats! They keep giving me reasons why they each need their own goat 😂

Kid watch again today! Blackie's due date was yesterday, but she only started to fill her udder last night. This morning it was much fuller, but not quite there yet. Ligaments are soft, she's definitely prepping for labor today. I'm so excited to see what her kids look like. It will be the first set from our new buck K&H GOATS C.F. TOBIAS. I most likely won't be keeping any (I absolutely shouldn't!), so they will be up for grabs in the coming weeks.

Blackie will be the last Nubian to kid this spring. Due next month, and the last doe of the season, will be K&H GOATS A.L. DANDELION, the first Alpine to kid here! It will be such a change from seeing the usual floppy-eared babies, but I'm ready for this change! Seeing my Alpines grow and mature over the last year has made me want to expand even more. I still love my Nubians, but have room in my heart for both kinds âĪïļ

It's been a roller-coaster of a week! Lily is due today to wrap things up. Praying for an easy delivery for her and a pile of healthy kids.

While goats don't always go on their due date, it appears that Lily will. Her udder filled overnight and she was acting off this morning. I've been stalking her on the cameras since I came inside 😂

On another note, her belly is enormous. We had a doe give us quads a few years back and she looks similar. Out of curiosity, I measured her belly girth last night. It measured 60 inches. SIXTY! That's five feet around. I know many goats have a little extra "cushion" and measurements like this wouldn't mean anything, but she's not one to carry excess fleshing. I'm anxious to find out how many babies she has stashed in there!

Stay tuned to find out!

We started off our kidding season today! Yuengling had a textbook delivery and gave us 3 buck kids. She's a sweet, gentle doe, so Ella and Charlotte were able to get a close up of the babies being born. They're all doing really well and are already busy exploring the milk house when I come out to feed them 😂

The girls are trying to name them, but unfortunately we won't be keeping many (if any!) kids this year. If you're looking for a bottle baby, they'll be available soon 😉

Getting soooo close!! In the next week (or so, because goats!), 4 of my girls are due. While it's been a nice break, we are all VERY ready to have good, fresh milk in the house! And poor Lily looks like she's going to pop ðŸ˜ģ ðŸģ

Today on this episode of "You know it's cold out when..."

*The brick I use to tap the sides of the bucket to loosen the ice broke right in half.

*I slammed my hand in the trailer door while getting hay. I never even felt it (until I got inside, then it hurt!).

The calm before the storm. I don't think the goats have any idea what they're in for! The dogs will enjoy it, not sure how Epic will react ðŸĪŠ
