Hopefully, I may have found a boyfriend for Marta. I'm looking forward to having goat milk again! I know we have a long way to go, but we will get there! 😊😊

To Thy hands, we our souls, Lord, commend."

Esther, my first goat, passed away last night. She lives on through memories and her daughters, Marta and Hadassah. I am thankful that she came home to us with the help of our neighbors and to hear her answer me when I called for her. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to my dear Mr. Petit for finding her a good place to rest.

Update on Esther: It has been a long night. We found out her calcium levels are very low, worm count is high, and possible pneumonia as well as neurological, maybe even menangitis concerns. Just praying she pulls through. Meds, subq fluids, and vitamins/supplements are all on board. She is still fighting and I told her I will fight as long as she does.

Esther and I have had a hard week. I came home last Wednesday to her eye swelled up. Not sure if it was a bee sting or bug bite or if Hadassah head butted her. The swelling has gone down but now she is exhibiting signs of lethargy and being sick.

With her being so thin, I didnt want to overwhelm her with dewormer especially after reading the instructions that don't recommend it for severely debilitated animals. She got pine which is viewed by some as a natural dewormer. She is getting oral microbial gel and a vitamin b complex gel for support along with electrolytes.

She is not improving so I will be calling the vet in the morning. Keep us in your prayers.

I saw a church board in Bedford that said, PUSH, pray until something happens...well it did! Esther aka Mother is home!! After 5 months and 5 days, she is back with us!! 😁😁 🥳🥳

A big thanks to our neighbors who found her in their barn shed!! She came right up to them and they walked her up to us. The best suprise!!

We have a long road ahead as she adjusts to being in a pen, getting back to healthy weight, and being with her daughters. Hadassah and Marta are not quite sure about having Mom home!! 😅😅

I took a trip to Clover Creek Cheese Cellar and experienced their cheese tour! It was great to learn about their practices, cheese making, and to sample their wares! We also got to make cheese, Ricotta or paneer cheese (I call it vinegar cheese). Pasture fed and raw milk is the way to go!

I'm looking forward to next year when I can get back into making goat cheese again. But first, I have to find Marta a boyfriend! 😅😅

After 4 long months, two nights ago, we saw Esther walking along the road! 🙏🙏 she came almost right up to our mailbox! I tried calling her in. She looked at us, peed as she has always done when I called to her, and took off into the woods. We set up a trail cam and so far no more sightings. Going to place it in a different spot tomorrow.

I'm thankful to know she is alive but also sad. This will not be easy. She is definitely the wild goat of Dutch Corner at this point!! Keep us in your prayers while we work on trying to bring her home with us and her daughters.
