Hey everyone 👋
Rochelle Osburn AKA The Hot Dog Girl here,
Due to recent comments circulating online, I feel the need to address the situation directly.
First and foremost, I do not judge a person’s worth by their race or background, and I will not allow a single statement, pulled from a private conversation and viewed without its full context, to define my character.
The three year old message being circulated was directed toward the biological father of my children, someone who subjected me to years of abuse and his methamphetamine use, leaving me and our four children with literally the clothes on our backs while failing to take responsibility for his own children, his own blood, his own DNA.
I was in constant fight or flight mode.
This message came from me at one of the absolute lowest points in my life. It was a personal conversation about a deeply painful situation, not a statement about an entire race of people.
Looking back, this comment could be taken as a politically incorrect statement.
We’ve somehow gone from judging people by their actions to judging them by somebody else’s interpretation of their vocabulary.
It seems context has become optional, outrage is mandatory, and common sense is becoming an endangered species.
I respect everyone’s right to their opinions. I ask for that same consideration in return.
Thanks to our amazing customers, we’re coming off a record setting one day sales event in our hometown where everyone personally knows me - literally!
Judge me by my character, my actions, how I treat people, and the business I’ve built in this community, not by a single private message stripped of its context.
I know who I am. I know what I stand for. I will not allow an accusation or a social media smear campaign to erase that.
To all of my supporters who have continued to stand by - thank you.
I’m here to raise my children, run my business, serve some great hot dogs, and keep moving forward. That’s where my energy belongs, and that’s exactly where it’s going.
